I think it makes the most sense that the conflicts and divorce happened because Lisa thought Watson was too focused on his job/making money rather than family life and Watson thought Lisa wasn't focused or appreciative enough of his work or the money.

That's good theory. Why Waston & Lisa, got the divorced.

I think even Elizabeth kind of also thought Watson was a workaholic, despite not minding it much (and probably somewhat also being one) until he had a heart attack.

I agree that Elizabeth fits the definition of a workaholic. This lady planned a wedding with only a couple weeks notice! So I do believe that she is more compatible with Watson than Lisa was. My husband and I have totally different motivation habits (he's a self-starter and I'm more easygoing) and sometimes that leads to arguments.
I don't think it's ever specifically mentioned, but I also got the vibe that Watson was quite a lot older than Elizabeth. So besides being obviously worried for him when he had the heart attack, I saw it as Elizabeth getting a glimpse into her future.

It's stated that Lisa works mornings while Andrew is at school in Karen's Birthday, unless it is from home. Anyway, Watson is described as being only a little older than Elizabeth, which would be 5 years at most, not 10+..he doesn't seem like the type to marry anyone he is old enough to be nearly a father to..plus balding and heart issues don't mean anything as they can happen at ANY age, depending on lifestyle..(like people getting gray hair as young as age 16)..remember Mr. Hill has even less hair and HE'S not considered 50+.Of course the hair on his head is brown, just like Watson's is..
