I'll have to check if any of my books have alternate names in them! Wasn't there a book that was originally going to be like "Stacey's Revenge" or something? I remember seeing that or something similar in a BSC I checked out from the library, and then also saw something about it on an article about the BSC. It was changed because it sounded to dark or something? It's also possible that I dreamed this, so I don't know. Haha
Does anyone have the link to where all of the alternate titles were being discussed? I looked them up and checked the wiki but couldn't find anything.

Stacey's revenge was the original title for #43 if I remember correctly. I think it was changed because it sounded like she was being petty or something lol.
No link but I saw that the ads for the alternate titles are listed on their wiki pages, but no discussions.

Yeah! I think you're right! I could see where they would change the title, but I wonder what that book was going to be about? Friends Forever has Mary Anne's Revenge, so I guess they don't care if Mary Anne's petty. Haha
Okay, thanks!

Here it is, Mary Anne Goes Steady, from an ad in the back of my copy of Sleepover Friends #3: Kate's Surprise, published in December 1987. Just noticed that it also says Kristy Meets the Snobs instead of Kristy and the Snobs.

Gotta say that Kristy Meets the Snobs would probably be a more accurate title perhaps? I like that book 10 is pretty accurate if a bit dated.

That's so cool, Wanderingfrog! I think that Kristy Meets the Snobs is a good title, but also kind of seems more like there was going to be a group of characters named "The Snobs". Also, Mary Anne Goes Steady is a really cute title, but it gives away the end of the book! I can see why they changed it. Logan Likes Mary Anne lets you know that "romance" is involved, but doesn't let on that they end up a couple by the end.

I agree, I think Mary Anne Goes Steady is cute, but a little too obvious, whereas Logan Likes Mary Anne is a bit more 'ooo I wonder what happens in this one." The first one is almost boring since it tells everything, whereas the second one only tells that Logan fancies her and not what eventuates out of that.

Another good alternate title would be When Mary Anne Met Logan...

Yeah, I agree, Elsie! Like the current title captures your interest more than just telling you what happened.
And yeah, CNJ! Like, that way we know that Mary Anne meets someone named Logan, but it's even more of a mystery on if they're just friends or a couple.

Has anyone seen the alternate titles for 44 and Mystery 2? I checked my books and didn't see them.

I have a couple of members' checklist bookmarks and one of them lists #63 as Claudia's Special Friend, Super Special #3 is Baby-sitters Winter Carnival and Mystery #2 is just Dawn Beware instead of Beware, Dawn! Also, Mystery #5 is Mary Anne...Secret in the Attic, but I imagine that's just because there wasn't enough room for the full title. I haven't seen anything for #44 though, but I'll look out for it.

I wonder why Winter Carnival changed to just winter vacation? I think that it would have been a more interesting plot honestly.

There wasn't a lot of carnival aspects in the book from what I remember. Elsie13 that sounds cool! I never even seen the bookmarks before. What do they look like?

I'll take some pictures and post them up. There are quite a few different ones I think. I have three, I just got lucky and found them inside books that I bought. I agree that Winter Carnival would have been an interesting story, but it's definitely not the right title for the book as it is.
