Amalia sounded like a cute kid. I liked the interaction between Mary Anne and Cary. I didn't like how Kristy spoke to Allie, who was telling her and Mary Anne something that she probably hoped would remain a secret.

This one was just okay for me. Parts of it were harder to get through.
Amalia sounded really cute and like the sort of kid you'd want to sit for. The Martinez parents seemed pretty nice too... also the kind of parents you'd want to sit for. I liked when Cary watched the kids for a bit. I dunno, it was just nice to see a different side of him.
And the whole Fowler thing was okay. Really typical BSC mystery stuff though... it seemed like it should have been a Dawn cause. At points, the mystery almost seemed like a parody of a BSC mystery. Mystery notebook, friends with a cop, ugh. And apparently Lila has uncles in Connecticut and one of them is in the same business as her father.
Also, I agree that Kristy was pretty bitchy. Although I just expect that from Kristy.
And I don't think MA looks particularly like herself on the cover. I think she looks pretty, but a little more grown-up than I prefer.

I LOVED this book. I have really strong memories of reading it while listening to the Alanis Morisette Jagged Little Pill CD (pretty deep for a kid in Grade 5)! I feel this plot is a bit more realistic -- for the scary bits -- than most.

I am not a Cary fan at all. However his interactions in this one were the best parts. I did not care for the Fowler mystery. The twins "real" surname of Wolfer always reminds me of Zach Wolfson, the semi bully to James Hobart.

Cary and Mary Anne kind of hook up in FF, right?

In Mary Anne's Revenge they spend a lot of time together and to me, they seemed to be heading in that direction, but the fandom does have a fair amount of Kristy/Cary shippers.

Outside of this book and parts of Cat Burglar, I am not a Cary fan. Based on this book, it would have been nice had he and Mary Anne had more interactions. I could actually imagine him calling MA or MA calling him after she got home from being questioned to make sure she was okay (tell him what happened). Too bad the "good guy" parts of him were often traded for the more "sensationalized" (storywise) ones.

Man I must be totally dumb! I thought this book was going to be about Matt Braddock and was from the video series where he overhears all this stuff about the kids and they find out about the notebook....I guess I should read the backs hahaha.
I really was so totally confused at the end with the twin thing. How dumb and random to blame the town for his mom's death??? I also had an issue with MA being able to find the guy because his name sort of sounded similar? How many people might have that last name???

^How many people in Stoneybrook are named Elizabeth and John yet no one is "aware" of that oddity? (Residents that is) Aw, the Matt Braddock idea sounds better than this was. This was yet another case of a parent not talking with their child or realizing something was going on with them. The twin thing seemed to go back and forth forever. It was humorous when MA practically thanked her lucky stars when Sgt. Johnson showed up! I probably would have done the same in her shoes. IDK, lol, this also could have been the title of MA over-hearing her dad's initial phone call to Verna in "Secret in the Attic."

This book is one of my favorite mysteries --- I am going to have to get my hands on the hard copy at some point (maybe next time I get an amazon giftcard!) I have read the ebook a few times and just love Luke and Amalia. I think Amalia is adorable and I want to scoop her up and hug her. I loved when she was rhyming Mary Anne's name with other names and got Cary Anne ... nudge, nudge ... also saw a lot of parts that I felt would lean towards them dating later. When he tells her to "Hang in there" with the police and then punches her shoulder, that part cracked me up, and then of course later with her friends she stuck her tongue out at him. Real mature.
Cary is one of my favorite characters in the series, so I always love when there are scenes with him in it and I also loved meeting his little brothers. It was sweet how he was always outside playing with them and that he took Amalia and watched her while MA still looked for Luke (although - he probably should have offered to look for Luke and for MA to go and watch Amalia - would have been gentlemanly). It seemed odd for MA to call out Allie and Beau - very out of character for her - and then being able to go and talk to Mr. and Mrs. Martinez about it also? Yeah, maybe when she was older, but I would have thought she would push that responsibility to Kristy or something, just because she hates confrontations.

Since Claudia and Alan hook up, I think Mary Anne and Cary would have been a good pairing too.

I think they might be my favourite pairing too, greer (tied with Robert and Logan - tehe). Sarish, you should definitely buy this book. It's one of my favourite mysteries and very nostalgic to me. Plus, it's one of the mysteries that is actually -- slightly -- believable, and puts it into a babysitting context. The cover is cute, to boot!

I feel this plot is a bit more realistic -- for the scary bits -- than most. Alanis Morisette improves everything by like 76%. Also, Mary Anne and Cary are a great pairing. I actually like Cary quite a bit... he reminds of someone I know, but I can't put my finger on who...
