Is it weird that I like LS more than I did as a kid, and am finding myself wanting to read them more than the BSC books right now? Haha.

Not that much, I started out liking LS first before slowly moving into BSC, and I can re-read some little sister books over and over more than BSC
Probably has to do with either feeling time went by too fast since being around the same age, or something about not having kids or planning to....

I went through that phase!!! I was never really into LS as a kid so I definitely like them much more as an adult. They're a really breezy, simple read. I enjoyed reading and collecting the entire series. The only problem is: combined with the BSC regular series, there are a lot of books! I had to ship them all when I moved across the country -- yikes!

Kids appreciate the smallest things that teenagers may not always, so I guess Karen has that and Ann M. Martin uses a lot of descriptions to support that so we can have visuals with it.

I think it might have something to do with the simple fun storylines... And they're so quick to read.

I like reading about 2nd grader drama. They've brought back some memories of my life at that age.

I started reading them in third grade, so I relate them more to grade 3 to 5, and especially cause my best friend then was 2 and a half years younger than me though we looked the same age cause of the same height, same name too and she looked a little older than she was and I looked younger than I was

I like reading about 2nd grader drama. They've brought back some memories of my life at that age. Their drama is amusing. Everything is such a huge deal at that age (Nancy freaking out about her sleepover invite was the first thing that popped into my head).

I like that there are so many LS books about holidays. As an adult, it's just really fun and cute to see how excited seven-year-olds get about holidays and special occasions.

I was always into LS so it's not a big difference.

I enjoy reading the LS books because in some ways Karen really reminds me of my highly intelligent, highly creative and highly hyperactive self at that age. I also like that through a child's eyes, everything is such a huge adventure. I do think she's a bit of a brat at times, but when you take into consideration her family situation, I would say she's got reason to act out a little.
I also second about the holiday books. I'm about to crash for the night with some Christmasy Karen books. Holidays are still great as an adult, but there's a certain magic to Christmas and Halloween that only a kid Karen's age can give us.

^ I enjoyed your most, Mimi, and I agree with a lot of what you mentioned. But I'm curious ... which Karen "Christmasy" books are you planning on reading?

I like the early holiday books, but they went overboard towards the end and had too many. It seems like every third book a holiday is mentioned even if the book isn't specifically a holiday one.

I've read most of them already, so the two new ones for me are "Karen's Angel" and "Karen's Christmas Tree." I'll probably also reread "Karen's Reindeer" because I'm a sap for 'Christmas magic' plots...hehe. And "Karen's New Year" because I totally got all OCD about resolutions when I was seven too. My poor parents. >.<
