Judging from the McGills' lifestyle in Manhattan, I've always wondered if Ed McGills' actual income wasn't more than Watson's. I saw a comment in a thread here about whether constantly flying was a financial burden for the Schafers', and I thought it might be fun to speculate a little.

I think Ed was very well off. They should have been living in Watson's neighborhood except then Jessi's family wouldn't have been able to move into their old house. I wonder if Ed and Maureen had a prenup or if he got out of alimony payments because Maureen didn't seem that well off after the divorce. She wasn't at single Elizabeth or Mrs. Barrett level, but she did buy an old fixer upper.

Maureen had enough to buy a house in a rich part of Connecticut. Well-off is relative when we're talking about the 'Brook. Both Stacey and Dawn's dad seem much more wealthy when you read as an adult than you might have realized when you read as a kid.

Stacey's dad worked in management, he was definitely well off.
