This book was painful to get through! So boring and so unrealistic. The Claire subplot was really cute and redeemed it a little bit, but not enough.
The whole set-up of Claudia going to the party at the museum was so ridiculous! I mean, first of all, the "super famous" artist doesn't have an unlisted number? You can call information and they'll give it to you just like that? And then he decides to invite this random teenaged girl who he's never met before to this fancy, important party? WTF.

^ Agree. I think this is one of my least favorite mysteries, towards the bottom of my list at least. It is kind of boring for me since I don't care about all of the art stuff and it really seems like there isn't a lot to the "mystery". Maybe I just always skim it too quickly, though, and miss stuff ;D The ending bothered me a bit when I read it this morning - how they end it with the letters to Dawn and then just sum things up. On one hand, this was a kind of interesting way of doing it and it did give decent explanations for everything. At the same time, though, it seemed really rushed - like they'd just run out of room. A lot of the endings of the mysteries - Mystery at the Mall immediately coming to mind - seem rushed like that. I didn't even care all that much for the subplot, even though Claire is pretty cute. ;D

As a child, I adored this book. I thought it was so great. But re-reading it recently...you're all right, it's pretty "meh." The Claire sub-plot was cute and enjoyable, and I loved the descriptions of the museum exhibits (the mole tunnel seems cool), but otherwise it's pretty dull.

^ The mole tunnel did sound cool. ;D It reminded me of watching a video of "naked mole rats" (very disgusting looking animals ;D) in a bio class I had and made me laugh. ;D

I just finished this a few days ago. I actually kind of liked it. There wasn't much to the mystery, really. The b-story seemed to have as many chapters as the mystery. I love art, though, so it was cool to read about Claudia and how knowledgable she was about it. As with most of the mysteries it was pretty far-fecthed, but for me that's half the fun of going back and rereading them. I thought the b-story was so-so. I'm not that big a fan of Claire, and here she just really aggravated me. Then again, I don't care for any of the charges that are super-outgoing. I just found Claire's manipulation of everyone around her to be annoying. Karen kept coming to mind as I read the Claire chapters.
And I agree that the tunnel sounded really cool!

I love art, though, so it was cool to read about Claudia and how knowledgable she was about it. I liked that as well. It's nice whenever Claudia can take pride in being able to inform Janine about her interests.

^ I just like it whenever Claudia can take pride in herself (though would prefer she did it about something other than artwork, clothes, and junk food. ;D) I think she really sells herself short, which is where most of her school problems come from.

I loved the science museum parts in this book. It sounded so much fun. I haven't been to one in forever. It was funny how Claudia kept thinking it was the Brownie Troupe had stolen the ancient coins... when it was so obviously the other guy..

^ I also like museums and this one did sound fun. It reminds me of the curious kids museum that we have around here. I've only been to it once but want to go back. It was a fun place to take a field trip. ;D For some reason, I couldn't get into this mystery but did enjoy the stuff about the museum. Maybe I'll have a different perspective, though, when I reread it soon.

Just reread this book and liked it more than usual. Still not my favorite Claudia book because I just can't get very into the stuff about the sculpture (art doesn't interest me at all ;D). The museum definitely was the most fun to read about. I also enjoyed reading about the BSC helping Claire come to terms with non-stardom. ;D Stacey was pretty funny in this one, too, when she kept teasing Claud for getting all serious. I think one of my favorite parts, though, was Kristy having them fish around in the fountain. It reminds me of how I always used to do this as a little kid when I would go to mall and my mom would shop and I'd be waiting with my dad, bored. ;D I got quite talented at "fountain fishing" and the fact that Kristy suggested it reminded me so much of something I would do, even now. ;D

AH! I'm a criminal. ;D ;D Maybe Kristy and I can share a cell. ;D mcpon, it is when people dig for change in the bottom of fountains.
