I remember hearing about the Reeve version when it came out but didn't watch it. The original is soo good! One of my favorite movies.

This is another great book to read when you’re sick. I could really relate to Abby – stuck at home in bed with nothing to do and bored but not feeling up to doing anything. Unfortunately, I have no neighbors close enough to spy on. ;D I didn’t like this one the first few times I read it but now enjoy it more each time. I don’t find it all that unrealistic (a bit coincidental, yes, but stranger things have happened and not impossible….) and it really is suspenseful. I enjoyed Kristy and Abby working together to solve the mystery and all of the scenes where Kristy is Abby’s “body” by going in the places Abby can’t. I think one of my favorite things that really had me laughing was how the signal that someone was coming was Abby blowing “She’ll Be Comin’ Around the Mountain” on the harmonica. ;D I think this is starting to be at the top of my mystery favorites though it started at the bottom.

I read it for the first time really recently, and enjoyed it a lot.

I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv this book. I have read it almost 5 times or so and I just luuuuuv it. The way Abby is sick and everyone thinks she's gone bananas.......that part is the funniest when Kristy pulls out the mail from Otto Finch's mailbox. The part when she almost gets caught in his backyard was scary but overall I luuuuuv it. (Didn't I mention that before? ;D)

I loved this book too! It reminded me of when I was sick in Jr. High, (or middle school, as some of you call it) and I stayed home sick for a long time, like Abby. I honeslty, thought that the police officer wasn't going to take her serioulsy, but this the BSC afterall. I also thought that the neighbor was going to be a guy who "just looked" like the guy that was wanted by the cops. I got a kick out of the the segement of the show called "Nasty Nannies. Come to think of it, it was pretty exciting for Stoneybrook.

One time, a couple of years ago, I decided I would try spying on people from my bedroom window with these old binoculars I found in my house. Someone had broken into the Dairy Queen in my town, and you can kind of see it from my house, so I thought I would watch it to see if I could find out anything interesting. I don't know what I was expecting to see....it's not like whoever broke in would come back.
Anyway, I didn't see anything there (surprise, surprise!), but I did see the girl that lived across the street sneaking into her house through the basement window. I remember I wrote down everything I saw, including details about the car that dropped her off, the time, and what she was wearing. I think I still have that notebook somewhere.....

^ That would have been amazing if you actually saw something. I wonder what the girl was doing - sneaking home from a date....? ;D

I just read this one and I have to say, I didn't like it. I'm a huge "Rear Window" fan and found this was not an homage, but a direct rip off! I mean come on, they make a fake phone call to get him out of the house, Kristy goes over, he comes home early and almost catches her. That is directly from the movie.
Yes, I know, they get the idea to call him from the movie, but the rest of the scene didn't have to be like that! Ellen Miles could have had some original ideas!

I agree that Abby's mother is a little involved in this book. I don't know if it's her job that makes her more alof.

I've never seen the movie....I didn't know this book was so similar! It might have been better if they'd had the girls acknowledge that they got their ideas from the movie or something...

Well, Kristy did acknowledge that she got the idea from the movie, when she tells Abby she rented it the night before.

Abby also mentions the movie at a BSC meeting when the subject first comes up.

This book is a bit far-fetched, all things considered. I'm not surprised that Abby's neighbor turned out to be a criminal. I think it could have been more interesting if he really wasn't the one shown on tv.
