^What sort of parent drops off his 11 and 8 year old daughters plus an 8 year old friend without first checking the place out? (Mr. Ramsey).

The same sort of parent who leaves his 11 and 8 year old daughters, along with his toddler son, alone for an entire weekend? (you threw this one right over the plate, Zoar )

Lol, is that good or bad? It is true though. I know Jessi=the definition (besides of course, Mal) of the mature 11 year old baby-sitter but come on!

^This one has sat at the near bottom of the barrel since March. I'm re-reading now and this could have been super exciting had it somehow related to the Mullrays and Dawn's house. As a kid, hey still now, I loved the idea of coming upon "a treasure." Doing so would be awesome no question. It's just this mystery is so slow and mainly about those darn plants. Why the girls immediately didn't consult Watson is still beyond me. ITA with everyone else on not quite believing the charges' level of excitement over doing yardwork or okay, computer work for plant categories or whatever Karen did.

I love the arboretum! I wish there was one around here that I could go see. I love plants but am no good at caring for them. I love the reputation of the BSC is at stake b/c Jessi is killing plants ... oh Kristy you are so twisted!
So....really the mystery and the arboretum are connected?? I mean come on. That is just dumb to me! Maybe if they found out squirreltown, or whatever the name is, was the arboretum and then went there, I could buy that. It just seems so unrealistic and coincidental...

^ I want to visit Squirreltown! It could have a squirrel shaped train and/or treehouse. Maybe a cuter version of Busytown. Aw, I didn't dislike the plants, just thought it was odd how excited the kids (and sitters) were about them. I also don't believe Watson had never heard of the Arboretum.

Has anyone seen the remake of rat race? Kathy bates is all creepy and obsessed with squirrels....she could be the mayor of squirreltown!

When I think of Kathy Bates, I think of the film Misery.

on page 32, it says that christina thomas's parents are john and rachel. not only is that another john (although this one is understandable because it was in the 1800s), but not too long afterward when abby moved to town, they came up with ANOTHER couple named john and rachel. the recycling drives me crazy.

^ Did you read this book because of the February appeal? And I agree about the overuse of names. But I guess, to their benefit, there ARE a lot of couples out there by the name of John and Rachel. I just try to think of that so that the recycling doesn't make me crazy

I just reread and liked it a lot more than usual. It mentions Valentine's Day, too. I think it's cute how sentimental Mary Anne gets over Christina/Henry--their story IS romantic, and sad. I also really love rose gardens. I've always liked the part where Kristy is looking at the almanac and wondering why the baker's wife left him ;D The party all the city officials attended at the end also sounded cool.

i wish charlie would have gone into the arboretum with them. what sort of lame big brother drops his kid sister off somewhere at the edge of town in the middle of the night and leaves? A brother, who wants get rid of bossy, annoying sister. Charlie will be thinking. Well Kristy can handle herself. She will be screaming her head off & kicking the bad guy in the groin. This book was okay. Cleaning the arboretum sounds boring. Mr Ramsey, get out of the car. Make sure, someone is actually there. Willing let kids be there. That still bugs me. Mr. & Mrs. Ramsey, left their 3 kids all alone for the weekend. My oldest niece. She's almost 11. (in May) I know, her parents will not leave her all alone with her two younger siblings. (plus 3rd sibling on the way) My older sister & my BIL was going away for the weekend. they either come spend the weekend here or spend the weekend at their other grandparents place or spend a weekend over a their other Aunt Missy's place. Kristy Thomas should know, that Thomas is common name. My last name is common.
