Shay Rudolph as Stacey was the best but the only actress I would definitely cast (aside from also Takayo Fisher as Mimi). Maybe Momona Tamada as Claudia and Sophie Grace as Kristy or maybe better as Mary Anne. Malia Baker as Mary Anne seemed both overdone at times and too inconsistent.
Feuerstein as Watson was really annoying and Charlie and Sam also really not how I pictured them.

I liked the Claudia and Kristy actresses. Stacey (and Logan) didn't have the it factor that I was picturing. I liked Dawn a lot but not actually as Dawn. That wasn't Dawn. From the little we saw of them I thought Mallory was pretty perfect, and Jessi was a bit too polished. I liked the Mary Anne actress enough but some of the writing for the character seemed off.

Agreed that Stacey didnβt have βit.β Neither did the movie Stacey. TV Stacey was best I guess, lol.

I liked the 1995 film Mary Anne and Stacey best...those were the closest to book canon.

Feuerstein as Watson was really annoying and Charlie and Sam also really not how I pictured them. He looked like Patrick Dempsey's low budget cousin. He kinda had a Willy Wonka vibe going on, too. I always pictured Sam and especially Charlie being these older, cooler guys. In Karen's books they seemed downright manly. These guys were little boys. Janine looked like an old lady compared to them.

I think Sam was okay, I mean he acted like a real 16 year old. Charlie was nothing like his book version though and it really irks me.

Shay Rudolph as Stacey was the best. She was good, but too blond...Stacey in the books had honey-blond hair and usually bangs and thick brows. I do hope they release this great series on DVD really soon!!! Feuerstein as Watson was really annoying. Yeh...too-young-looking...and Alicia Silverstone was too young-looking, too film-star-ish and was blond when in book canon and the 1995 film, Elizabeth has dark hair and brown eyes like Kristy. I think...I'm not sure which BSC book...it mentions that Kristy and her mom have the same coloring and look quite a bit alike.

Fifteen-year-olds do seem ancient to a six or seven-year-old. Karen probably thought that Ms. Porter was about a thousand years old. π

As for the girls now, I really the 2020 Stacey and Claudia. I might do a recast for Kristy but I guess we'll see how season 2 goes.

My mental image/ideal casting of Jessi is Tatyani Ali Ashley from mid The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and of Abby is Sara Gilbert Darlene from mid Roseanne.

Tatyana Ali was about 11 when Fresh Prince started. I don't really see her as Jessi, but she's what an actual 11 year old looked like.

Mona Vaughn was never and will never be part of the BSC.
