I think Mary Anne might branch out of Stoneybrook.
I could see her wanting to move to NYC and meet/marry someone there.
Me too!!! πππ I
cannot imagine Mary Anne living in Stoneybrook beyond high school.
Does anyone see any of the girls following the path like the stars on MTV's Teen Mom?
No, not at all. I cannot imagine any of the BSC having a baby in high school, especially since they'd be knowledgeable about birth control.
I see both Mary Anne and Cary moving to NYC and meeting randomly.
I can't imagine Mary Anne or any of the rest of the BSC marrying anyone from Stoneybrook.
Yes, I understand NYC is huge and it would probably be kind of hard to just randomly meet up with someone...
Quite true.
I think Claudia might meet another artist like herself in art school - if she goes - or in a farmers market where she sells paintings! Perhaps in NY or Boston.
That I can completely see...I can definitely see Claudia going to art school instead of a traditional university
I could see Mallory perhaps falling for a one of the first guys to give her a lot of attention, despite perhaps not being the best match for her and it not ending up being successful in the long term.
Mallory is
not that pathetic or weak-willed and is not attention-hungry.
I do see most of the BSC going through a few romantic mismatches and breakups, though.
I can see Jessi perhaps getting married later in life, chasing her career way into her 30s.
That I can see also...I can see Stacey marrying late if at all also since she'd be busy working on her PhD at MIT.
I can see Kristy like that, but for some reason I don't think Stacey and Dawn would be as stuck in not. I see them as more liberal on the issue.
Disagreed on Kristy...to me, Kristy seems quite liberal and progressive and would
not be one to passively suffer a bad marriage "for the sake of the kids" or out of irrational fear of change.
Kristy
saw how her mum was all right after she recovered from the divorce and
knew that her family became much happier and more stable without Patrick, who was a terrible father and who treated Elizabeth appallingly and broke her heart countless times.
And once Elizabeth married Watson, we see the joy Kristy found in her stepsiblings and the close bond she eventually developed with Watson.
Thankfully, Kristy learned at a young age that divorce does
not mean the end of family life and does
not need to produce scarred-for-life, messed-up kids.
There are a lot of people who fit the bill but one person that comes to mind is Princess Diana.
She was the product of divorce and swore it would never happen to her kids, but alas it did.
So true! And it hurt Diana so much...she was as timid, compassionate and as sensitive as Mary Anne also.
Both Diana and Mary Anne absolutely dreaded confrontation.
Darling Diana and Mary Anne...sweet ladies with so much in common.
Oh, yes, Dawn would be more liberal. It's Stacey I'm not sure about, since I can see her being divorced a couple times but she would be looking for the one.
I think actually...although Stacey is fairly liberal, she'd be most apprehensive about divorce.
The changes she and her family went through in the wake of her parents' divorce left her more shaken than either Kristy or Dawn.
I actually see Stacey being the most hesitant to marry or even date in adulthood since she would fear an unhappy marriage and subsequent divorce the most.
I suspect Stacey dreaded even an unhappy romance and a bad breakup as the books went on and she had several guys let her down so badly.
So, I have a tough time imagining adult Stacey thoughtlessly flitting from one man to another and tossing aside multiple husbands lightly, especially without consideration of their feelings.
Stacey is
not Jessica Wakefield or Lila Fowler...Stacey's far more thoughtful, deeper and mature than those two Sweet Valley bozos.
Dawn also went through quite a bit of upheaval after the divorce also, so she may be reluctant to marry also.
Stacey would be the most apprehensive, though...although not as shy or timid as Mary Anne, Stacey seems more reserved than either Dawn and especially far more cautious and reticent than bold, outgoing, rather daring Kristy.
Besides, brilliant Stacey is likely to be in school the longest, so I see her being so busy with her PhD that she would be hesitant to allow a romance to sidetrack her too early in adulthood.
I can image Kristy, Stacey, and Dawn being the type not to get divorces mainly because they were the children of divorce and they wouldn't want to put that kind of stress on their own kids.
I don't really agree with that assessment...yes, divorce can be tough on kids, but divorce is not the worst thing to ever happen.
Although Kristy, Dawn and Stacey were initially upset, they recovered and realized that their families were better off and
more stable
after divorce.
I remember how Kristy admired her mum's courage in
Kristy's Book in recovering from Patrick's ill treatment of her and in keeping the family going well and
without the Thomas family falling into poverty since we know Patrick never paid a nickel in child support or alimony.
So, although, they would try to work out minor marital problems, I
cannot see any of these three ladies clinging onto a husband, especially a bad husband at all costs in the name of "saving the family."
Those are my feelings and thoughts on the three BSC members with divorced parents.
All that stated, I can never see
any of the BSC marrying anyone from Stoneybrook or any of the books...all of their romantic/marital partners would be unknown characters outside of Stoneybrook.
Stacey, Dawn, Mallory and Abby may possibly remain single for life.
I see Mary Anne being widowed in her forties for some reason.
Kristy would marry, but would have no problem getting divorced if her husband turned out to be an arse or was unfaithful or something.
Kristy is as liberal and progressive as Dawn and Stacey.
I don't know why some people think of Kristy as this arch-conservative dud or this overly fearful, clingy person who would stay in a dead or unhappy marriage.
