This guy has to be the most selfish parent ever! A good example is in no 58 Stacey's Choice which I'm reading right now. He gets all pissed because Stacey had to cancel going with him to his dinner because her mother is ill. I mean, what the?? Maureen McGill maybe his ex-wife but she is Stacey's mother and she' sick and Ed is being selfish!
This isn't the only time he is selfish towards Stacey. There's Super Special 4 when he wouldn't let her go back to Stoneybrook to help look for her friends. I mean, what kind of father does that?
And in the tv show the tv counterpart of Ed isn't much better. He had asked her to live with him full time . Way to put the pressure on.
Yeah, can't stand him.

I agree that he's completely selfish! He's my least favorite BSC dad next to Kristy's.

To be fair he offered to hire round the clock nursing for Maureen. I sort of see his side too, he was looking forward to having his family support him at this special dinner. As for her friends, yeah, two of them were literally LOST AT SEA and he was like, "but it's your weekend in the city!" Ugh.

I wonder (not saying he was right) how much of that was him being lonely? I don't think at that point he had anyone in his life, Stacey was it. Working constantly and having no one to share it with... although his workaholicism was bought on by himself!

He wanted to show her off and prove to his co-workers what a good, involved dad he was. My dad used to do the same thing.

Least favorite dad in the series. I hated him during SS4 when her friends went missing and yet he wanted her with him. Ugh, just a selfish person.

I can go two months or more without talking to him. Then we'll go out to dinner or something where he sees someone he knows, and he'll act like we hang out all the time. My opinion on Ed is that he knew that everyone knew that Stacey "picked" her mom over him and he didn't like how it made him look.

You guys make a lot of sense. I've never dealt with divorced parents, so I take back what I said about Ed! Lol

My parents are divorced and it wasn't like that with my Dad, but he is different to Ed!

The nickname "Boontsie" was my least favorite nickname in the series. I know as a mom that parents giving pet names is normal and my two children have many nicknames but I always hated Ed using "Boontsie".

^ Oh, yeah, that nickname is pretty awful - and embarrassing! But my dad called me Baby Bump ever since before I was born to well into my teenaged years, haha.

Yeah what does that mean? It kind of sounds like bootie, like a baby bootie?

^ It means the fetus/unborn baby is growing in the mother's stomach and it's evident that she's pregnant. So as I got older, Dad just kept calling me Baby Bump, lol. It was so embarrassing to me!

I think Kylie meant what Boontsie means? It's kind of a weird term of endearment, but I guess that was just Ed's baby talk. I call my pets boo boo. Lol
