Hi, guys! So, the title is pretty straight forward. I was just wondering which of the BSC's dads you would date! I also included Seth as an honorary participant because I thought his pictures were the most handsome. So, going from their description/personality or just the illustrations, which of the dads would you date or marry?
I think I would either go for Seth for looks or Richard for personality/interests. I know a lot of the illustrations of Richard show him as bald like Watson, but does anybody remember that from the books? Either way, those would be my choices!
I can't wait to see what you guys answer!

This is probably an unpopular opinion because they aren't the most beloved characters, but my first choices would probably be Jack Schaefer or Patrick Thomas. They seem the youngest and most chill and that's the energy I would want in a partner. Jack has a beautiful home near the ocean so he might be my final pick. But Patrick in the movie was super handsome.

I think Jack's a pretty great guy! As far as I can tell he and Sharon's divorce was pretty mutual and amicable, so I don't really see any issues with him. Also the house is a huge bonus! Although Patrick is probably the worst of the dads, he is really handsome in the movie, which obviously gives him an advantage. Haha

Seth seemed like a solid guy who loved two kids who weren't his and didn't have any of his own. Plus he liked cats. Winner.

Netflix Watson is dibbly attractive. Super chilly. 80s book Watson always seemed slightly geriatric but I guess this is imprinted in my mind as a child. At any rate I did love that He was described as having a huge book collection!

Hmm... I'll have to check out Netflix Watson! Sounds pretty distant! haha
And yeah, him being described as bald all the time doesn't help in picturing him as young and vivacious. Some of the few illustrations of him looks like he's mid-40s to 50s. And the huge collection of books is a great bonus!

Not young, but not too old-looking either.

Watson on the movie sort of matches your vision!

This is probably an unpopular opinion because they aren't the most beloved characters, but my first choices would probably be Jack Schaefer or Patrick Thomas. Jack I totally understand. He seems like a cool guy, and he's a good mix of responsible and chill. But the thing is, according to Kristy's portrait book, Patrick just disappears when he gets bored. When he left his family, he just didn't come home one day. No word, just disappearance. And when he came back and only wanted to see Kristy and basically swore her to secrecy about him, he did the same thing. He just said he'd meet her somewhere and didn't show up. My choice was Watson. He might not be that good looking and kind of old, but he's also probably the sweetest of the dads.

I agree about Watson! He seems super sweet and always tries to make Kristy and her brothers feel like a real part of the family.

Watson, he seems like a genuinely nice dude.

I wouldn't date Patrick because I'd go to the bathroom and he'd leave me at the restaurant. I wouldn't date Ed because I wouldn't want to be third to his career and his ego. I wouldn't date John Ramsey because his sister probably interviewed his dates before he went out. I wouldn't date John Pike because if he was that laid back about his kids' behavior then he was probably secretly lazy about dealing with important things. I might date Richard because he seemed so grateful for attention that he was probably a pretty doting boyfriend. I might date Watson once Karen and Andrew went on that monthly custody exchange. It would be a long month with them, but then a whole month without. I'm on the fence about Jack Schafer. He sounded like a good dad but maybe not the greatest partner. John Kishi was rather unmemorable, but he voluntarily took care of his mother-in-law.

I agree, Nancy!
Ha! I love your decision making, Sparklymouse! And I agree with them, although Karen and Andrew don't bother me much. John sounds pretty nice, he wanted Mimi to live with them and he likes books!
