Now that we've had time to let the Netflix show sink, I suppose the time has come compare the two? I saw the thread for the movie versus the show and thought about this topic.
Personally I don't know. I like that the 90s series had the spirit of the books and had original stories (and some were mentioned in the books later, like Stacey's modeling career). That way we're not comparing them to storylines that were published before. I totally love this Kristy and think Avril Hillman did a fantastic job. I also really like Janine in this version too. There are times when they were written out of character like Dawn in Dawn saves the trees (book Dawn would have totally thought of a solution).
I like the over reaching arcs in the 20 version (I'm just going to call it the 20 version here lol) and that the parents are more involved. Also I like the new Dawn she's fun and Claudia was on point. I don't like how often Kristy's issues with Patrick keep coming up though, it's been 7 years since he left? Also not enough baby-sitting, I love it when the kids come up.
What do you think?

I like the Netflix version more. It's just higher quality all around. I will say that the 90s show did the actual baby-sitting better, but I was never that into the baby-sitting.

Agreed on the babysitting parts. In the 90s version it was cool how well we got to know Charlotte, Jackie and Karen. In the 20 version we got to know Karen but that was about it. Disappointing. Hopefully we will get to know some of them better in season 2. I enjoyed the mysteries plotlines in the 90s version too, they were better then the minuscule mysteries in the 20. Other than that though, I liked the 20 version much better.

It’s interesting to think about. The 90s series was happening when the BSC was in its heyday...the Netflix series is changed but keeps the heart of the books in it. I have to say, I am partial to the 90s series because of that closeness. Lol, I feel like my parents, talking about the “good old days.”
