Sorry if there’s already a thread/post about this. I came across this link about Merry Go Round when I was looking at 80s/90s fashion: aboutthe80s.com/the-history-of-the-merry-go-round-store/Was this the same store (or based upon) that the club visited in various books (e.g. Mallory shopping with Carolyn and Marilyn Arnold, Stacey and the Mystery Money)? Pretty cool if little Stoneybrook had this store. Sometimes the town seemed small and other times much larger. I always enjoyed the shopping trips in the books.

Stoneybrook is actually a large town, not a tiny one, so yes, a merry-go-round store is plausible there and should not come as a huge surprise. Washington Mall was a very huge mall and there was a multitude of restaurants. So, Stoneybrook was not some tiny, one-horse town with only five stores in the middle of nowhere and Stoneybrookers were not country hillbilly bumkins.
