lol for some reason I can't see a bunch of 7 and 8 year old boys caring at all about gender stereotypes. I mean they hated charm school and hid in the closet so clearly they weren't that into it. That whole thing, of boys playing a game hiding from a class of that nature, is straight out of a novel called The Philadelphian.

i don't think we can assume that the ghostwriter read that book. i think kids hating going to charm school/dancing school etc. is pretty common.

^ Agree Greer. I also think the boys tried to crash the party just to be pests.

The actual tea party was so cute (until the boys crashed, I really didn't enjoy them showing up at all and I don't know why Kristy "couldn't" kick them out) and I liked how Melody was there Just reread and liked that part, too. ;D Also agree about Kristy kicking the boys out. Even if it was DM's house, too, why couldn't Karen have had exclusive use of the one room for a special occasion??? Thank goodness I didn't have brothers. ;D The burping makes me laugh because it reminds me of how my cousins still think it's funny to burp really loudly at the table - even though they're in their 20s. ;D (of course, my grandma burps outloud all of the time, too, and says 'sorry - I had to do that' ;D Quite embarrassing in restaurants. ;D)

I like the illustration in this book of Watson standing by the kitchen counter with his arms crossed, looking sooo mad...

why did the boys want to go to a girly tea party and get so mad at the thought of anything girly threatening their manliness?
I loved reading about karen's new outfit and the delicious food, cooked and uncooked.

i forgot to add that i loved reading about karen's outfits and the illustration of the dress in the window that she thought was perfect.
also, wasn't the last line of this "and our dance was the way i had always dreamed it would be" while dancing with ricky? that absolutely cracks me up.

lol yes. I like that illustration of Ricky and Karen at the end too. Ricky looks like a short, stern older man.

The plot kind of reminded me of Stacey's Book, anyone else?
