That was the least dramatic secret passage reveal. “Oh, I didn’t tell you?” “No. Cool.” I wondered what was up with Mary Anne and the clown doll. It was a set up for Kristy (who was cute!) It made me laugh because of our clown debate recently. I don’t like spicy food either, Richard.

I didn’t really understand how Kristy made her way into the secret passage, like Dawn must have told her sometime. Was it just a little door on the side of the house? I think I missed something. Still funny though when she showed up. I don’t think they mentioned the Civil War times? I was hoping to see Dawn play a little joke with the secret passage but it was more about her anxiety, which matched a little of what we see in her character, like she mentioned rodents (made me think of New York). If she’d played a joke with the secret passage it could have been seen as bullying and there was a lot of kindness and thoughtfulness in the girls’ characters.

You know they threw in the line about bats having diseases for a reason.
My favorite scene in the entire season was in this episode: Mary Anne silently reacting to the spicy taco sauce while the conversation ignores her. It was so funny I had to rewind and rewatch a few times. Malia Baker is my favorite of the actors when it comes to pure physical comedy. She's amazing.
We finally got the Dawn-Richard bonding that we didn't get in the books. Love that they talked about something real.

I watched these so quickly, but I'm pretty sure Dawn and Mary Anne told everyone at a meeting. Richard may have made a comment about someone could break in. There was sunlight coming into the tunnel, so maybe the cellar/barn side wasn't fully underground and Kristy could hear them running around. I thought the whole tunnel plotline was kind of a letdown. I'm glad they didn't rush Richard and Sharon's relationship.

I was expecting the "The Ghost at Dawn's house" plotline of Nicky hiding out in the tunnel to get away from the Triplets after the first couple scenes. The Pikes were the subplot and there was drama going on. Turns out not the case! Interesting how only half the Pikes returned from season 1.

^ I was also expecting the Nicky plotline. I forget which episode it was in, but Mallory made a comment about how Byron needs alone time, so I was actually thinking he would be the one to get that storyline.

A minor thing, but the title changed from "Dawn's Wicked Stepsister" to "Dawn and the Wicked Stepsister". Obviously they didn't officially become stepsisters, but I'm curious about the change. I loved the scenes with the hot sauce because that is a common source of disagreement between my husband and I (I like spicy, he doesn't) - but he's not as considerate as Richard, and he would never try something spicy just to make me happy. I liked the Pike side story. I haven't read Poor Mallory for a very long time, but does the throwing a party for Claire happen in that book? Mallory talking about being a charity case made me think of that. I loved seeing the party set-up. I wish I could hire the BSC to do my kids' birthdays!

I don’t think they mentioned the Civil War times? Prohibition instead. I didn’t like this change. I want a passage like that in my closet. Lol
