I agree with you about the foreshadowing of Karen and Ricky. I always got that impression with a lot of the earlier books.

Very cute and very second-grade.

^ Who is in that illustration with Karen, lilaflower? I am assuming Charlie? I haven't read that book yet.
So I read Karen's Worst Day before this one so I knew what to expect getting into it. Although I was surprised at how much of this book took place in a hospital -- I thought it was going to be more about Karen skating, but she only really skates in the first chapter or two.

Exactly, virgo. It would be more fun if she'd spent more time skating.

The story behind the illustration is kind of hard to explain without giving away a major-ish plot point, so I'll just suggest that you get your hands on a copy of Karen's Baby-sitter as fast as you can.

I'm on it. So now I am assuming it's Bart?

LOL I'm sorry but there's no way to say this without sounding like a smartass (hence why I tried to avoid it): it's a man dressed as a palm tree. That's really all he is. He shows up at the Engles' house to tell Karen she won a contest.

I liked reading what people wrote on Karen's cast. I particularly liked Amanda's where she wrote up and down Karen's cast. It was different (as well as what Watson wrote and Boo-Boo's pawprint).

If Karen was that obnoxious about people signing her cast, just think about her trying to get people to sign her yearbooks in high school.

Am I the only one who things this was another LS book that wasn't titled very properly? (Another one that comes to mind is Karen's Little Sister.) As I've mentioned before, the roller skating thing is only for the first 3 chapters or so. Karen's Accident could have been more fitting. Karen's Accident they could have called Karen's Emergency or something.
I love how Mrs. Porter's handwriting looks witchy and that her name is Tabitha, the ultimate witchy name. (Tabatha Coffey comes to mind, the witchy looking Australian who is FIERCE!)
