Did anyone else ever think which BSC member they would like to have had baby-sit for them when they were little?
I think part of the reason I was wary of Kristy was that I thought if she ever baby-sat for me she might try to make me play softball! Or some other sport, or in general be more social and play with the other neighborhood kids (when I'm very shy and introverted) And then she wouldn't like me because I hate sports and I don't just "need encouragement" and I would be all, "Um, can I please just read my book?"
Claudia I thought might be fun because I liked doing art projects, but I would have felt really embarrassed if we ever left the house and she had to leave a note for my mom or something. "Um, I can write the note, Claudia. I don't mind." Or like that part in "Little Miss Stoneybrook. . .and Dawn" when Charlotte wants Claudia to read to her and she's really awful at it? That always made me cringe.
Mary Anne I would like because we are (in good and bad ways) a lot alike. A lot of the books and movies she mentions liking are ones I like or liked, and I would have thought that was cool, and maybe she would have taught me to knit. (I'm working on it now--I mean, knitting something more exciting than a scarf).
And I know Mallory's a dork, but so am I, and we could have written and illustrated dorky little stories together.
I remember thinking I would have found Stacey kind of intimidating (although she did get along so well with Charlotte--but I may have been biased because I knew a girl-bully named Stacey, and the illustration on "Boy-Crazy Stacey" actually looks a lot like her), and I was kind of indifferent to everyone else--nothing stuck out about how I would feel about them as baby-sitters.
