I have two instances in the series that made me think, "Hmm... Mary Anne and Cary dating? Hot".
From Mystery 36 (Kristy and the Cat Burglar, p137):
Mary Anne rushed to Cary's side. "Are you okay?" She touched his forehead gently. "You're bleeding."
"Am I?" he asked. "It doesn't really hurt. I'm okay." He sounded dazed.
The second instance is really a whole book - the dynamics between them in Mary Anne's Revenge (Friends Forever 8). I loved Cary in that book.

For some reason, I've never gotten the whole "Mary Anne/Cary" vibe (Hehe-Mary). Maybe it's because I haven't read the Cat Burglar one and I haven't read "Mary Anne's Revenge" in ages. Or maybe it's because I think Mary Anne and Logan are a OTP.

Hehe, I love MA/Logan too... But then they broke up! MA/Logan after #131 was totally different to the OTP of the original series.

^That's true. But they're still the "original" MA/Logan OTP to me. Although I have contemplated writing something where she has to choose between him and Alex. I find myself wondering what a Mary Anne relationship with Alex might be like. i guess they'll always have Sea City.

I picked up a weird vibe with the MA/Cary thing in Mystery 36 but haven't read any of the FF books. I don't like this paring at all as Cary kind of gives me the creeps. I don't know what it is about him - he seems a little psycho or something, kind of evil. I could see him luring MA or some other trusting girl in and then doing something rotten to her. I don't know why he gives me that vibe. Not that I necessarily love MA with Logan (they are too lovey-dovey like an old married couple) but I hate the thought of her and Cary - or anyone and Cary. The guy frightens me.

Hmm Mary Anne and Cary - potential deceit, Mary Anne and Logan - act like they're married at 13... but Mary Anne and Alex, maybe Indeed it would be an interesting fanfic. Hehe sorry but for a moment when I first read the title, I forgot about Cary Retlin and for a second I thought it was about Mary Anne and Cary Grant! ;D

I kind of like MA and Alex, too. All interesting fanfic topics. Maybe if I had time...

I like Cary! I suppose all the tricks he knows make him a bit scary/creepy, like being able to break into lockers and take the watch of someone's wrist without him/her knowing... But I think he's hot Only if you're on his good side, though. He's a bit of a mystery. And I really like him in Mary Anne's Revenge. I love the date that Mary Anne and Alex go on where he wins her a big purple hippo. That scene gave me warm and fuzzies.

Hmm. I think I'll try to write a Mary Anne/Alex thing once this semester is over. If anyone wants to get me ideas, send them to me.

^^her and Alex? Or her and someone else and them going there and running into Alex there (my- that'd be an interesting one, too.)

I thought her and Alex. Logan doesn't exist in this world. Oh! Or maybe he does! Maybe in high school, Alex moves to Stoneybrook, and him and Mary Anne meet up at the high school and become friends again. And then they take a trip to Sea City with a bunch of their friends (Spring Break style) and hook up. And then they go back to high school and date for all of that and through college and it's a happy, loving relationship with the occasional rough patch but for the most part, it's all good. A bit like MA/Logan, only better. The new and improved old-married-couple relationship. And they eventually marry and have kids and go to Sea City for family holidays. They have lots of kids, all named after members of the BSC. It's in their memory, you see, because all the other members were killed in a horrific accident at some stage.

I'm stealing your spring break idea Jen, only this time they are in high school and meet Alex once they get to Sea City. After a week long fling of MA letting loose for once she gets knocked up (drunk?) Alex won't return her calls so MA tries to pass the baby off as someone else's (Logan? Cary? New Guy?) and then Alex decides to face the music and show up after all. Maybe right as MA is about to get an abortion (does she go through with it? Does her father ever find out? He could kick her out, at Sharon's urging, or MA could just run away and hide for awhile.)
An unrelated idea: One of the bsc, now older, gets pregnant/has affair by one of their old charges (now older themselves) or one of the parents. Or Logan knocks someone up.

Ooh, I like your ideas, sugarmonkey! Way more drama than my new and improved old-couple-relationship. Hee.
