Did you vow never to swear or have you just managed to keep yourself from it?

Haha, yeah. At eleven I didn't swear much either. Now I swear all day long and in multiple languages to boot.

My theory is if it can be said on TV then it's not really swearing. I do a lot of that kind of swearing, but I very rarely drop the F-bomb on anyone. Not out loud, anyway. ;D

I swore a lot even when I was eleven... just not where any grownups could hear me. Now I'm more concerned about kids hearing me swear. I taught Sunday school for a couple of years and the kids would scold me for using "bad words." See, I would forget that things like "sucks" and "crap" are considered "bad words" when you're six... Good point, laylaandmixup, about it being difficult for Richard to be Emily Michelle's father if she was born in Vietnam. I guess we'll either have to assume that Richard once took a trip to Vietnam, or come up with an even more convoluted explanation!

I guess we'll either have to assume that Richard once took a trip to Vietnam, or come up with an even more convoluted explanation! How about this? Richard had an affair with a Vietnamese woman in Stoneybrook. Upon discovering she was pregnant, she went to Vietnam, had the baby and put her up for adoption. Then, Richard secretly paid Elizabeth a lot of money to go adopt Emily so he could keep an eye on her from afar while she grows up, not unlike how he did with David Michael. Is that convoluted enough? lol

Somehow I doubt that....

It's strange without Layla's posts, the threads don't have a flow!
I love the Richard fathering all the kids with two names theory!

The rest of us (ie, adults) just need to keep up. I like the new structure to the boards; maybe now with the book club going we'll get some more traffic.

I don't think we really *need* more traffic. I just want everyone who left because of laylaandmixup to come back!

I just want everyone who left because of laylaandmixup to come back! I must really be in a fog. Who left because of Layla?

Layla herself; not sure about anyone else.

Lots of people stopped posting because of layla and people like her, or stopped posting as frequently. I myself slowed down a lot because I'd log on, click on a forum, and see an entire page of laylaandmixup and then just log out again.

Ah okay, got it now! ;D I thought you were talking about people that left the forum after she was banned lol. Anyway, I would do pretty much the same thing whenever she posted. Not so much at first because I originally thought she must've had a lot to add to our discussions if she was going through old threads but once I realized she didn't, well, then it got annoying .

Has anybody been to tvtropes.org? Somebody suggested on there that Emily Michelle was Watson's biological daughter.
"The whole adoption was a little fishy. It happened much more quickly than international adoptions usually do, there was no home visit from a social worker or anything, no visits by Watson and Elizabeth to Vietnam, just a "oh by the way, we're putting the kid on a plane like she's so much cargo." This all might make more sense if Emily was the result of an "indiscretion" on an Asian business trip, and Watson wasn't "adopting" her so much as he was providing the evidence for his paternity (at which point, since she's his kid, it's presumably much easier to claim her than it would be to adopt)."
I think it would actually make a lot of sense. While his marriage to Lisa is in trouble, Watson has a brief affair on a business to Vietnam. Lisa finds out and it is the nail in the coffin for their marriage. A few years later, Emily's mother dies and she gets sent to an orphanage. However one of the mother's friends knew about Watson and contacts him to tell him of Emily's existence. He tells Elizabeth the whole story and together they agree to bring Emily over and raise her. Plus I remember thinking that Emily didn't look fully Asian in the pictures. It would make sense if she was half white. Or maybe it's just me.
