Wenonah4th inspired this thread. A seperate place for "wishes" that don't necessarily have to do with any particular book. Maybe this thread could also pertain to a particular time period in BSC-World. Like, during 7th Grade, a certain summer, etc. I really wish there had been at least one "year" without Jessi, Stacey, and Dawn. For Jessi, I think prolonging her arrival would have shown us more of the BSC Members and Mallory as younger kids. If nothing else, we'd have gotten to read about at least one BSC sitting for Mal job, possibly even one of the girls interacting with the Pikes pre-BSC. Of course, no immediate Jessi, hopefully would have given Mal a tiny chance to shine and gain more confidence. For Stacey, I hold out to the "secret" hope that magically there might have been extra memories if not "one year" of 6th grade and/or more of 7th with Kristy, Claudia, and Mary Anne. Maybe one of the Shillabers would have been the 4th BSC Member. In terms of Claudia, no Stacey might have meant her truly working on her friendships not only with MA and Kristy but her family as well. For Dawn, I already have wished that it was Richard and Edie dating and that if the Schafers came to Stoneybrook they did so later on. Something I just thought of, what if Richard had re-met Sharon on a west coast business trip of some kind? Or as we've talked about before (better) that they randomly met in a public place like the grocery store. The "long-lost" love was sweet, I am a romantic at heart, but not the way that played out or was told. But then, lol, a Schafer fan I am not.

I wish the series never ended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AUGH!!!! Just kidding. I think a lot of people here share my main wish: that the series ended with them graduating middle school and the Friends Forever series was of them in 9th grade.

^I wish that, too, U4me, all those things. I wish the FF had never happened as it was written but as you said the final BSC year had been 9th grade. My two other main wishes are that neither Louie or Mimi had died (or been sick) and that Kristy's mom had married Richard.

I wish California Diaries had continued after the BSC ended.

I wish the regular series had ended on a less depressing note, and with a Kristy book. And that Mal and Jessi had portrait collections, even though it was an 8th grade assignment...that wouldn't stop Mal, who loved to write and reflect.

Mallory and Jessi having portrait collections. It would've been nice to read what they wrote about. I would've also liked it if Mary Anne's house didn't burn down or if thre had to be a fire, only part of it would've been burnt.

I agree BooBoo. I think the final BSC regular series should have ended with maybe a three parter. First Graduation Day. Second, a super special about the beginnings of summer that included the "contest" in "Fire." I have always been sorely disappointed we never got to read the kids' entries or Kristy's final essay about the BSC. This could also have included some pre-bsc memories or when the bsc first started. Finally, of course, a book right before 9th grade started. This would've tied in nicely to the former because (probably) afterwards the girls (I'd hope anyway) would be more determined to keeping the BSC going, even if it they cut back on their sitting hours.

I wish the series had lasted until the sitters had graduated from high school, with fairly equal time for each grade. I feel that the series was restricted by the fact that it took place in pretty much only one year, not only for the sitters but also for their clients. This way, new babies could be born, clients could age (and thus be given more problems and character traits) and older kids could outgrow being babysat and possibly be babysitters themselves.

Fairy3lf2, I never have given much thought to the Series continuing throughout HS, just 9th grade. However, ITA with all your points and wonder if families might have expanded and/or gone through changes if the books continued. I always have wished at least one (additional) year had gone by where everyone aged, especially the charges but 4 really would have given us a lot more reading material for one, but also added character info as you said. Maybe we would have gotten to read about Kristy and her brothers changing their surname to Brewer. Thinking of them as "older" gets me thinking of Charlie in "Mind Your Own Business, Kristy" (before he would have --in real life--gone onto college in the Fall) and how perfect a time that was for the name change to have at least been brought up. Great idea.

part of me would love a reunion book, but i would be so disappointed if the girls ended up doing different jobs (or with different families) than i want them to have.

Maybe just a client reunion? Most of them I have no opinion on how their life would turn out, but I would love to read about it! Jenny P - turned into a big slob hoarder due to her mom's crazy neat freak ways...etc

I would be disappointed and sad if the main girls lives turned out differently than I'd hope. Lol to Jenny P as an "Adult Miss Mess."

I think an age change in either direction would alter the feel of the books too much. You make them younger and there is no club yet. The club was the whole point of the series. You send them to high school, are you going to keep the reading level the same and dumb down the high school experience or make the books more mature and alienate the target audience (or the parents of the target audience)?
I wish most of the new characters introduced had not been new to Stoneybrook. It was lazy, and most of their background stories wouldn't have had to change much if they had been townies. I just didn't like how so many people had so few ties to where they were living.
What if Abby & Anna had transfered from Kelsey Middle School because Anna liked SMS's music program and Abby wanted to stick with her sister? They could still be from Kristy's neighborhood (though probably not right next door or Kristy would have noticed them, lol), have their dad be dead and their mom commute to work every day.
Maybe Pamela Harding's parents wanted a private school with a more relaxed atmosphere and moved her from Stoneybrook Day School to Stoneybrook Academy.
Or maybe Logan decided to approach Mary Anne after her first make-over, the braids to big girl hair one. The southern accent added nothing to him anyway, and hey, Robert was hiding in that school for years before Stacey noticed him. It could happen.

I see your point, Sparklymouse about the age. I don't think one year either way would have created too much havoc. I guess because I am not a big Dawn/Jessi and certainly not Abby fan, I would have preferred (them not coming to begin with) but a couple years without them. ITA about the randomness of one-time characters. Even the ones mentioned a couple times like Betsy and Rosie, could have easily been replaced by someone else to give them more meaning. I think as the series, especially the mystery series grew, so, too, did the more outrageous storylines that often had little to do with the girls as we had come to know them. The books became more about "selling" the crazy tales and less about the small-town feel and characters. The rest are some dibble fan fic ideas!
