^2 weeks consistently is a long time. One week okay, but two? I'd definitely need a vacation upon coming home from my vacation then!

Yeah, I always noticed the two-week thing, too. Camp, Shadow Lake, NYC, the Disney cruise...all their parents must have had lots of flexibility at their jobs as far as taking vacations!

^ The Disney cruise wasn't two weeks....they only spent a few days on the ship and a few days in Disney World. Sea City was two weeks, though, as was Hawaii (I think...been awhile since I read that one).

They also had a two week break from school in California Girls.

I am re-reading this now and am disappointed. I generally like the baby-sitting chapters, in regular BSC books, sometimes preferring them to the main plot. In this case, the Conway Cove story is so ridiculous and once the "emergency" settled, plain boring. Who cares about Jessi's skit that Mary Anne tried revising ? And why would 8 year old kids even want to put on a play about a girl and her sexist boyfriend? At least Jessi told MA "no." Wait. I forgot. Because in a mere 3 years those 8 year old kids will be 11 and at the start of their dibbly freshness. Oh but wait again. They don't live in Stoneybrook and are not named Mal or Jessi so maybe not! What bothers me the most is not one of the 16 parents came to the Lodge. If I had a kid, especially very young kid, and they were involved in a serious bus accident where the bus overturned causing a fractured arm and cracked ribs to the two teachers, I'd sure as he** find a way out to the Lodge. I think the Elementary School could have done something to help transport families. I can understand the reasoning for letting the kids stay (they were there, already had a traumatic experience, etc) but come on it could have been rescheduled. Then there was Mrs. George. Right after Kristy and Claudia volunteer the BSC services, their hostess comments how wonderful the girls are, etc, but that "she thinks at least one or two adults ought to go to the crash scene, as well." DUH. You don't say? The cover. If "Kristy" is with Mal and Jessi than apparently Mary Anne, Stacey. and Dawn all lied about being on the Blue Team. Either that or Ann "forgot" who was supposed to be with whom.

Some of those kids were only seven years old! I know when I was that age, if I was hurt, I definitely would want my mom. Not just a phone call home.

^Me, too. It might seem like an adventure but I'd still want the comfort. Even if I didn't, isn't it the parents responsibility (something they'd want to do anyway) to make certain with their own eyes everyone is okay? I also don't "get" why Miss Weber and especially Mr. Dougherty stayed all week.

I never thought about that before, but it is definitely the truth. Most parents would hurry there to verify that their child was okay. It wasn't that far away --- not like the other side of the country or something!

Agree with you guys. The bus crash could have been traumatic for a kid that age, and they seemed to get over it pretty quickly.

Well, the Conway Cove kids were supposed to be poor, right? I can see why, if there were other kids at home who needed care, lack of transportation, need to go to work, etc. that it would be hard for the parents to drive from somewhere in Maine to Vermont.

^True, but the school should have at least offerred transportation. The other thing that bugged me about this book was Mary Anne. I get she is not athletic. What does being athletic have to do with building a snowman? She spent almost the whole book obsessing about Logan in Aruba and the remainder reminding us of how she hated gym and that's why she wasn't participating. I get cold super easily and am not very athletic. But it would have been fun to participate in some way. Besides Mary Anne at the very beginning told us that she "loves snow."

^I guess she just likes looking at it from indoors.

^I guess so. Either that or thinking about snow while she pines for Logan or worries about Ms. Halliday!

Did anyone figure out the stupid ghost thing? I reread this and I think maybe I missed the part where she finds out about it??? Or maybe it just wasn't in there.
I really missed more Stacey chapters, but I think I would have been bored reading about her being in luv yet again.
Did anyone find it odd that Claudia mentions that she and Will have this ongoing sort of relationship b/c I sure don't remember that being mentioned in the series since SS#2?
Anyway - I really want to smack the crap out of MA and tell her to get a grip. I think Logan calling her showed me that he was a big jerk (or just starting to be) b/c who would really do that? I would assume calling from Aruba would be expensive and was MA just supposed to be waiting to take the call and not doing anything interesting except pining away for him? It almost make me wonder that if MA wasn't so obsessed with him, would she have seen his jerkiness earlier?

^I wish there had been a book where Claudia spoke with Will on the phone and/or wrote to or got a letter from him.
Yikes, you're right. The phone call from Aruba must have cost a lot of money especially if people in Stoneybrook have to pay to call their next door neighbor, think of the cost between Aruba and Vermont!
