^ Never saw it on Reading Rainbow, but I know that book! It's really cute. Maybe Jessi read it and that's why she was so convinced she deserved the role of Peter Pan

I don't remember that episode but it sounds cool. I used to love Reading Rainbow as a kid ;D.

I remember this was one of my *least* favourite Super Specials while I was growing up. To me, the idea of a play isn't very Super Special-worthy. Maybe because plays, to me, were never a big deal (we always put them on in school and I had been apart of city-wide concerts and plays and such). I re-read it and thought it was okay, but it still goes to the bottom pile for me of all of the SS series (and I am surprised everyone raves it as one of their favourites. Oh well, haha!)
I did enjoy the angst between Jessi and Kristy, and Mary Anne and Mallory. I also found it amusing that - once again - someone is Babysitting in every Super Special. They can't get away! The idea of a backstage babysitter was ridiculous to me at the beginning; however, at the end (while reading Mary Anne's chapters), I realized that it was important and Mary Anne got suckered into a really important role (for the teachers anyway) without much credit.
Dawn became lame towards the end. Hello. You have been reheasing for this play for weeks, you know that it's coming, and you get freaked out right before you have to perform? Annoying. Again, the inconsistencies in Dawn (in my opinion) although I don't mind her as a character, she is all over the place.
Of course all the BSC is involved in this play. It's such a big deal that they don't hold meetings because of it (and I wonder why Kristy is okay with this? Normally she wouldn't be. Maybe because she is playing Peter Pan).
Logan should have been kicked out. For good. No Ann-putting-in-a-cool-plot-only-to-ruin-it-a-few-chapters-later kind of grub that is ALWAYS pulled in these books. I kind of wish juicy plots would happen and stick! Kids can handle it! Life isn't always perfect! In my opinion, it would make the books so much better (but maybe that's the adult-wanting-drama-in-a-book).
Jessi is a itch-bay. Why was she lead narrator? She narrates a lot of the Super Specials (and mysteries) if you actually think about it.

I don't really understand why Logan was kicked out in the first place. What's the big deal about "mutiny"? It made me think that mutiny was a dirty word.

I think everyone was getting on Mr. Cheney's nerves, and Logan's behavior was like the last straw for him, so he received the punishment.

Oh I forgot to mention (and I don't know if it was mentioned earlier in this post) but...
Bwahaha @ the length of Stacey's arm on the cover!

^I just went and looked at that and you're right! Her arm is freakishly long and skinny!

^ I had to go look up the cover on Dibbly Fresh. I never noticed the arm thing...I always thought that her hands were on her hips. I'm going home to look at my copy up close.

I originally thought the same thing too! It would just make sense (hands on hips, slouched forward slightly) - but no!
Her arm is very long and extends toward Dawn and Mary Anne. Her other arm must be doing the same thing (but is hidden behind Jessi and Claudia).
It looks very, very unrealistic. Skinny diabetes arm or something, haha.

Oh, my lord...I NEVER noticed that arm before. I thought she was placing her hands on her back. It doesn't even seem like there's a hand attached, it's just a long stick. Sooo creepy.

I actually like it because of the simplicity of the story. My favorite super specials are the ones like this and Snowbound and (to a lesser degree) Adventure Island where they are in Stoneybrook just doing normal things. (Getting stuck on an island obviously isn't normal, but I liked the non-island parts with the girls freaking out in their normal environment.) There are a few regular series books with them at home (Kristy's Big Day, Little Miss Stoneybrook...and Dawn, Kristy and the Baby Parade, others) that I would have much rather seen stretched out into super specials instead of some of the vacation ones that we got. I don't think *Special* has to mean crazy unbelievable.

i am rereading right now, and it's pissing me off that everyone calls it a play instead of a musical. also, i want to punch jackie in the face. normally i love him, but really.

^Yeah, Jackie annoyed me in this book. I can understand a preschooler being freaked out by someone in a giant animal costume, but not a seven-year-old. Especially since he knew who was inside the costume.

The following was said about Mal:
"She wants to work on costumes. I think she'd be good at that. I mean, she's always --"
Always what, I thought? Can't be dressing up, sewing, making her own clothes, talking about fashion, etc.
