It's funny because Kristy disliked Watson for being too old. They both hated their new stepparents for the same reason (just for intruding on their families) but complained for opposite reasons.

It's awkward seeing your parent with someone new. There are a lot of Trip Mans in the world.

What I'm concerned with is how did Mallory go blonde without bleaching her hair first?

Mary Anne was unreasonably over protective of Stephie. Didn't she listen to Lisa? Asthma attacks are triggered by emotional stress not by over excitement or too much activity.
Kirsty thought she was an expert in baby sitting and she also thought she invented baby sitters clubs.
Stacey was an idiot throughout the book. Also Mallory and I'm not surprised Jessi was mad at her. They were only in California for a few days and Mal blew all her money. In makeup and hair dye. She's so hung up on her looks.
I actually like Carol and I disagree with Dawn. Just because she was in her thirties doesn't mean she should act like it. I don't act my age. But I did disagree with Carol about changing your personality for guys. A guy should like you for who you are.

Carol didn't say that you should change your personality for guys. She said that some people think you should change your personality for guys, and then she got interrupted before she finished her sentence, and we never got to hear what she actually thought about it. Dawn immediately assumed that Carol thought it was a great idea (and it's funny how annoyed she is about this, since she recently tried to change herself for Travis, and fairly soon she's also going to try to change herself for Lewis), but I bet Carol was about to explain why it isn't a good idea.

I knew this too even when I was younger, and I was so frustrated that it was never actually cleared up. I like Dawn, but dang did she give Carol a hard time. Carol took vacation to drive a bunch of teenagers around. That's pretty selfless. She seems really cool. Despite all this, I understand why Dawn is hesitant to like her. I think that's pretty common for parents' dates/ step parents and often is pretty unfair. It feels realistic, and teenagers often are pretty moody/ judgmental. Dawn does have a weird problem with changing herself for guys. This is the first BSC book I've read in like... 8 years excluding the CDs, and I loved it! This is one of the better Super Specials. The Mallory plot was hilarious (seriously, exactly HOW MUCH did she spend on that make-up? I'm guessing her parents made her put some money aside or something), the Claudia plot was also pretty hilarious, and the only blah part was Jessi's. I didn't care about Derek Masters when I was a kid and I don't care about him now. I'm not sure why, but plots surrounding him just aren't fun to read about at all. Another point about Jessi: I would also be annoyed out of my mind if I had to keep covering for Mallory because of the make-up. Her anger/ annoyance is totally justified. Kristy was annoying in this book too, although I somewhat agree with her on the W<3KC having meetings just when they feel like. Why have a club? Why not just have clients call their houses? I like Dawn's CA friends, but I think AMM tried too hard to make them seem more "laid-back" than the BSC. I'm also confused on the laid-back stereotype... I'm actually from California and the only thing we're laid-back on is punctuality (this drives me nuts). Otherwise, we're so stressed because everything seems so expensive. I will say that the CDs definitely seem to step away from that stereotype.

This one has always been one of my favorite Super Specials. I think just because being 13 and spending two weeks in SoCal and going to the beach and amusement parks sounds like my idea of fun. I also love the little rivalry between Kristy and Dawn's friends in California. Here is my review for it: thebookshelfofsara.blogspot.com/2021/03/fine-fresh-fierce.html

Also I love your super special reviews!
