Today she probably wouldn't deliberately tan, but in the 80s she might have wanted to get tan outside. Surely not a tanning salon though!

^ I didn't mean that Dawn would try to get tan. I was responding to Sotypical's comment that she looked tan, which she probably assumed happened naturally from lots of time spent on the beach. Some people tan easily when they are exposed to the sun at all. I do and have never tried to get tan and wear sunblock but still get tan when I'm outside. (Too bad I'm not tan now since it's too freezing with no sun ;D) I don't think Dawn is like that is what I was saying. I doubt she deliberately sits in the sun to get a tan, either.

i think of the lightness of dawn's hair as a result of being outside a lot. i mean, shed still be really blonde but not the white-blonde she's described as having. i've never met a person who had truly non-sunbleached platnium blonde hair who had any hope of ever getting a tan.

^ Neither have I, which is why I picture Dawn as being pale rather than tan - because I do picture her with naturally pale hair, too (but think the sun could definitely bleach it more. I know mine gets blonde streaks in it during the summer even though I've never highlighted it.)

yeah my sister's hair is naturally darker than mine, but will often look lighter because she lives in florida and i live in places like nyc and northern russia where there isn't much sunlight most of the time. but you can kind of tell that her hair is totally sunbleached rather than superblonde naturallly.

My cousin, when we were teenagers and he'd fish with our grandfather twice a week, had a patch of tanned forehead where the opening of his baseball cap always was, when he wore it backward. Looked pretty funny!

This topic makes me wonder if it ever mentioned any of the girls' hair getting sunbleached naturally. I know Stacey used "sun light" or whatever ;D but wondered if any of them just got natural highlights.

I think Dawn refers to her brother's hair being sun-bleached.
