I always loved reading about what Jenny had on. I had a first grader in student teaching last year that amazed me with style. It wasn't frilly dresses like Jenny but the child had everything up to the minute in fashion. She had Seven Jeans, Juicy Sweatsuits. Uggs, converse sneakers in EVERY color... you name it. She never wore the same outfit twice.

Yeah I know what you mean about the whole TV thing. What's wrong with letting the kids watch some TV? I remember one book where Karen, Andrew and David Michael were watching The Wizard of Oz on video and before Kristy and her mum leave, they tell them they can only watch it until Dorothy leaves Munchkin Land. That's only about 30 minutes into the movie and then afterwards David Michael says, "Now what do we do?" Why didn't they let them watch the whole of the movie?

The tv thing is stupid. In the beginning of the series, the kids get to watch some tv, but at the end it's like: can I watch tv? sitter: OMFG NOO WE ARE GOING TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN WITH THIS KID KIT
let the kids watch tv!

^LOL! I guess I would've been a bad BSCer because I would've encouraged the kids to watch TV so I wouldn't have to play with them. I bet the kids would really like me though

I assumed they weren't allowed to watch the rest because it was too scary or something. Which...I don't know, I've never actually watched that movie. I hadn't thought about it being a time limit thing. You're probably right, but how dumb is that? Are they never allowed to watch through an entire movie? Wouldn't that lower their attention span?

claudiascandystash, that picture is sooo cute! It totally looks like a Jenny outfit.
I don't remember the Wizard of Oz incident, but wow! That is really weird.. what is the point of putting a movie in if you only get to watch the first 30 minutes? The "no tv" thing was just another example of the girls being unrealistically responsible. Any normal baby-sitter would be happy to park the kids in front of the tv for an hour!

laughed so hard at this!
The Wizard of Oz is the requisite scary movie Karen and her friends watch in Karen's Sleepover. Even as a little kid that baffled me as I've never found it the least bit scary. And they'd have to get through the whole movie to finally reach the part that could be -- the flying monkeys and Dorothy trapped in the tower and everything.

There was one family I used to baby-sit for that always parked the kid in front of the video while they were doing stuff and then would tell me that I had to turn it off as soon as they left, and because this was not magical Stoneybrook, it was like, thanks for producing a ready-made tantrum, parents! They were irritating in many other ways (stayed out later than they said without calling, etc) and eventually I just stopped sitting for them, but ugh. Seriously, it's so not cool to make the baby-sitter enforce rules you won't enforce yourselves, parents.

I reread "Mary Anne and Miss Priss" recently and really it is no wonder that Jenny is such a brat. For the first four years of her life she is the spoiled darling of her parents getting absolutely everything she wants. Then Andrea comes along and Jenny is ignored for the younger, cuter less spoiled model. Then Andrea does baby modelling and Jenny feels hurt and betrayed.
I think Jenny got brattier as the series progressed though. But I can't blame her. I hope her parents have put aside lots of money for her therapy bills.

I have to admit that I've only ever watched the Wizard of Oz once because it scared me so much the first time. I can't remember why now, but I've always been a wimp when it comes to scary movies and books.

I always like Jenny but especially loved her in MA vs. Logan. She was bratty but understandably so. And her cuteness kind of makes up for her brattiness - at least makes her fun to read about

I enjoy her more as an adult then I did as a kid though. Also how do you pronounce her last name?
