That's supposed to be Vanessa?! That looks absolutely NOTHING like Vanessa! I get that Vanessa is only 9, but that girl looks like she's about 5. She could almost be Karen. Why is she blonde?! Or is that supposed to be light brown?

She does look like Karen. But how hard could it be to find a 9ish dark haired girl?

Yes, actually the first time I saw her on the screen, I assumed she was Karen.

Geez, did Vanessa borrow Mallory's glasses in that picture? Those were ugly...almost as ugly as the pink plastic ones I was sporting in the early 90's.

Now that's more how I pictured Vanessa, although I alternated between dark hair and reddish hair depending on the way the wind was blowing. (Even though she's Mallory's age. And my god, I never realized how young eleven-year-olds look until just now - who would hire them as baby-sitters?!)

Me too, when I first saw the show, I thought that she was a Vanessa.

I picture Vanessa looking a little nerdier than that girl. I could see Claire looking like that in a few years, though.

I always tell my mom about the BSC books and just read parts of Sea City Here We Come and some others to her and dad while we were on vacation. So, last night I was on the boards and she came in and saw something about the Pike kids. She said, "let me see if I can keep them straight" and I thought her description was really funny and quite encompassing: "Claire is the cute one who says silly things like Silly-Billy-Goo-Goo. The triplets are the ones who pick on their younger brother. Nicky is the non-triplet boy who wants his brothers to pay attention to him, Vanessa is the rhymer and Margo is the barfer." Pretty accurate, I think
