I totally forgot about Rosa. Rosa seemed really nice and cool, it's a shame they don't mention her in other books.

It's too bad Claudia didn't listen more to Rosa, too. I think Rosa had some good advice for her. What book was she in - Middle School Dropout? I always get the "Claudia problems in school" books mixed up. ;D

I just finished Claudia and the Great Search and it mentioned Janine going out to celebrate with her friends. I think this is one of the references I was thinking about. I think she does have friends but the books just don’t usually have much of a need to mention them and I don’t think she spends a lot of time with them, which is fine since I’m the same way. ;D

i think of her friends more like coworkers--she studies with them and stuff, but she doesn't go to the movies with them or anything like that. i do know that in claudia's big party she feels like she lost some of her friends because she was spending so much time with jerry.

A question about Janine after reading Sad Goodbye when Mimi gives her the earrings.... does Janine have pierced ears? I thought a book mentioned that she didn't. Did she get them pierced or Mimi just wanted her to have the earrings anyway?

maybe they were clip-ons.

^ I thought of that too, mostly because I can't see Mimi having pierced ears either. Or maybe she just wanted Janine to have the earrings and get her ears pierced to wear them (since she wanted them "in Janine's jewelry box or preferably on Janine's ears"

I've never thought of it before, but I imagine Mimi - and Janine- to have clip-ons.
I'm about half-way through Claudia and the Bad Joke and read how Janine bought her People, Tiger Beat, Seventeen and Vogue to read when Claud gets out of the hospital. I thought that was so nice of her, considering she probably went out of her way to do that for Claud. I heart Janine! ;D

^ I had forgotten about that but it is sweet. ;D It also shows that Janine really knows Claudia - probably much better than Claudia realizes. ;D

I like how in "Claudia Kishi, live from WSTO!", Janine runs to the kitchen to get sparkling grape juice to toast Claudia. It was really sweet of her.

^ I liked that, too. Didn't she want to have a celebration dinner for Claud in another one?

Seriously, Janine is fantastic. I love her. Why in the world are these books always written in a way that suggests we're not supposed to like her? Claudia's always complaining about her (granted, siblings do that sort of thing), and she's always so MEAN to her!
