At my grocery stores the baggers take the groceries out and load them into your car for you. That's kind of what I pictured Sam doing, although I wouldn't really call the job "delivering" groceries. I thought the same thing. Also because A&P had that extact same service during the 80s and 90s where they had baggers deliver your groceries to your car. Or you could pull up and they could bag them for you. I think it was an "Extra service" that was especially geared toward older people

In FF Date Disaster, Charlie drove Kristy and Abby over to Claudia's for a BSC/Alan's friends picnic party...and then he stayed and grilled out for them. My first thought was "that's nice". My second was "why does he hang out with them so much?". I always think he was too nice/a pushover, but I'm beginning to think he really enjoyed being around them.

^ Yeah! Maybe he was just a generally good guy. He seems to be pretty paternal, especially since he helped raise Sam, Kristy and DM after Patrick left and had the responsibility of being the oldest child. The BSC (and Kristy's friends in general) seem to be good kids, so maybe Charlie thought so too?

Charlie and Janine probably somewhat grew up together, too, so he could also have visited with her.

True! At the same time, it would have been easy to put something like that in. Like, "I ran up to Claudia's room with Charlie right behind me. He was stopping by to ask Janine a question about homework" or something along those lines. I guess just because kids grow up together, doesn't make them automatic friends, although I personally do love the Janine/Charlie fan-fic idea. Charlie seems into girls like Angelica anyway :S

^That would have been cool and sweet to see since both, particularly Janine, are often taken for granted or pushed aside in their respective families. They both could have allowed us to "see" more of the true "other." The only time we got a glimpse of Charlie was when he talked and got fed up with Kristy in "Mind Your Own Business, Kristy." The only hints of Janine were in "Phantom Phone Calls" when Claudia told her what happened at the Newtons and Janine confessed to stashing candy. Otherwise both siblings fell into their caricatures: Charlie=the level-headed chauffeur of the BSC. Janine=Claudia's older sister who was soooo different from her (C) it was amazing. Yep, I've always disliked the "sooo different" label that is tossed around in the BSC in general but particularly when it comes to Janine.

Charlie and Janine probably somewhat grew up together, too, so he could also have visited with her. True, but in this instance he stayed in the back yard with the club the whole time. He was cooking on the grill for them.

Haven't read this enitre thread, so I might be repeating an earlier comment, but I figured out which other fictional character Charlie Thomas reminds me of-Darry Curtis from The Outsiders. I can't remember is Charlie played football, but both are firstborn children, who because of changing family circumstances (Curtis parents dying, Patrick Thomas abandoning his kids) are forced to take on more responsibility than most people their age.

I have wondered for a long time where Charlie would go during BSC meetings. There would be no point in him driving home, since he would need to immediately turn back around. For the same reason, there's really nowhere else he could have gone either. The only reasonable idea I can think of is that he sat in his car and napped/did homework, but if that were the case, I feel like there would have been a comment from time to time from one of the sitters about how Charlie was sitting outside.

^Maybe he visited a friend? I remember in Boy Crazy Stacey, Charlie and Sam had intended (until poor Louie was hurt) to spend their Saturday visiting friends in their old neighborhood. I have also wondered about this especially in snowy or otherwise bad weather. He could have, if nothing else, sat inside the Kishi's kitchen or something.

That would get annoying after a while. Sorry "so-and-so-friend" that we have to cut our video-game playing short, or our basketball game has to end, because I have to pick up my little sister from her babysitters club meeting. Her life takes priority because I get 25 cents out of it

Yeah, and I think any friend would probably get tired of Charlie stopping by EVERY Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for so long!
