She was so out of character with being supportive in Jessi's Big Break. I never thought she would have encouraged her to follow her dreams. I liked that version of Aunt C and wonder if maybe that is her problem with why she's so uptight and negative - she never got to reach her dream. Wonder why not? With as old as Michael is compared to Jessi and the other cousins, maybe that is why???

Could be, didn't she do a bit of acting?

I think that's what she did.

I can really see a different side of Aunt C when she interacts with Squirt. She is almost playful and seems much nicer. I enjoyed the scene in Jessi and the Troublemaker when she picked him up and tipped him upside down to make him laugh. I like this side of her

Just reread Stacey and the Fashion Victim and am not surprised that Aunt C was a secret smoker. Can anyone else picture this? I wonder if she ever really quit like she supposedly promised to try doing in that book. I wonder if the others who signed the pledge quit. I doubt it, except maybe Watson.

In SS 4, Jessi says that after Aunt C’s husband died, she moved to a different house in nearby Queenstown, CT. I thought that she moved in with the Ramseys right after her husband died. Am I remembering wrong or is this another inconsistency? ;D

^ Not too sure, aln.I never liked Aunt C much, myself. She seemed too uptight and strict. I did, however, like her in Jessi's Big Break, what with being supportive of Jessi. I thought that was nice Surprised that no one mentioned about how in SS #4 she did seem to be the only member of the family with brains, lol. Kind of scary how AMM made it seem as though Aunt C was in the wrong thinking that an eleven year old shouldn't be left to babysit for a weekend. I guess she was trying to put it from Jessi's point of view, but still. I remember as a kid reading that and thinking it was perfectly normal, and now I'm just kind of like WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?! Even I could maybe see it (or it'd be a least a little more plausible, anyway) if it was just Becca, because she's eight years old and seems like a pretty good kid, like she wouldn't be too much trouble. But SQUIRT as well?! Maybe my parents were just overly protective, but they wouldn't leave me and my sister overnight when I was 17 or 18 and she was 10 or 11! The first time my mom even let me stay at home by myself over night was when I was 18. Now, I'm moved out so ... yeah. lol. But my parents are really overprotective, and unnaturally worried about fires, its what my dad always yells as he leaves the house 'If there's a fire, GET OUT! And don't take anything, just get yourselves out!' Ah well, I know they love us

I also liked Aunt C in Big Break and in some of the other books when she seemed really willing to listen and talk with Jessi (Awful Secret is another one I think) I wish she would have been a bit "softer" but I guess that's just not her personality....

^ Agree about her being softer. Would have been nice.
I forgot to mention - did anyone recall reading that Aunt Cecelia was Jessi's great aunt? For some reason, I always seem to think that she's her great aunt, and am always surprised when reading a Jessi book and find out that she's her dad's sister. It just seems like the first time I read about Aunt C, she was portrayed as her great aunt, and thats why I remember her as such. I know she's probably not all that old, but it's still possible. My mom's a great aunt and she's only in her 40's, because she became an aunt when she was 5 years old (she's the youngest of her sisters and brothers, and her oldest sister had her children at a young age). Then again, it's probably just me, because I've never heard anyone else say it.

^ Mhm, I figured it was just me. I thought that maybe one of you guys remembered reading that she was Jessi's great aunt in one book, so I would know that I wasn't crazy But I guess I am, lol. Or maybe I mixed her up for the female version of Uncle Joe ;D

^ I always pictured her as being way older than Mr. Ramsey (who I also picture as being a lot older than he probably really was ;D) so maybe that's what gave you that impression. I can see how you would think that, though. If Aunt C was Mr. Ramsey's sister, was she Keisha's aunt, too, or was Keisha on the mom's side? I don't remember any mentions of interaction between Keisha and Aunt C, which I think is kind of strange....

That is pretty strange, but considering how little we see of Keisha, not very surprising. I always assumed that she was Keisha's aunt as well, though I don't know why. I always pictured Aunt C to be a lot older than John, too. I think it's because of the way she acts - stuffy, strict, sort of old-fashioned - it makes her seem older than she probably really is. I liked her in the subplot where Jessi and Becca think she's getting married (I forget the book). She seemed to have more of a sense of humour than usual.

^ Jessi and the Troublemaker. I'm just about to reread that one and love that subplot, too. ;D I guess I was just surprised that it didn't mention Jessi and Keisha talking about Aunt C. I think it would have made sense if Jessi would have called or written about what a pain Aunt C was being in books like Jessi's Babysitter. I know I would have crabbed to my cousin. Unless Keisha had a different view of their aunt..... I wonder now. ;D

I thought Aunt Cecelia was too overbearing at times, and the fact that she moved into the Ramsey's house so suddenly without Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey even telling the girls was ridiculous. They found out a few weeks before it was to happen, I think, but the girls weren't even asked how they would feel about it or get a chance to say how they felt. Having another person move into your house is a pretty big thing, and the way they went about it wasn't realistic. But wait...this is the same series where you can adopt a child and then spring it on your other kids the day before you go pick up your new adopted kid at the airport! And then...after Aunt C moved in and the girls were clearly unhappy, they wouldn't go to their parents and talk to them about that. Instead, they decided slippers full of shaving cream and rubber spiders in her bed were a better way of dealing with everything!
