It probably helped that it was at the start of a new school year. Social groups kind of reset themselves naturally. At least they did when I was that age.

The Shillaber twins were barely on my radar. I remember at one point, Claudia is looking over at their table and thinks it's just soooo immature that the twins are dressed alike. I think my first encounter with either was when I read my second BSC book, which happened to be #46. Miranda was assigned to Mary Anne's group in the author project, I think. She happily swapped with Cokie because she didn't want to be stuck with Pete Black after he snapped her bra strap once or something like that.
