Miranda and.....I forget her name. Anyway, they ate lunch with Kristy and Mary Anne in 7th grade, and they had little to no contact in 8th grade. I don't think we ever got to see what they looked like, but after watching a ton of Saved By the Bell lately (hooray for Tivo), I think they might have looked like the twin girls who are always in the hallway scenes and at the Max. The twins I'm referring to have dark curly hair. Anyone agree?
(I tried google image search, but no luck)

Mariah, that's right. I kept thinking "Maria"? No, that's not it...
Do you think it's weird that they had a Myriah and a Mariah? Maybe Ann liked Mariah Carey. A lot.

hmm i think mariah was named before mariah carey became popular. i know that myriah perkins was named after ann's childhood bff beth perkin's RL daughter so we can't blame ann for that strangely unpronounceable name choice.

^Well, as a kid I figured Myriah was pronounced like Mariah, as in....dum dum dum, Mariah Carey. Oh, and I totally used to say "spy-er" instead of "speer". Who knew?

I always pictured the twins as having long, dark red hair. Maybe that's because there really WERE a pair of twins at my school with dark red hair.

I always pronounced it Speeer... probably because there are Speer's on my dad's side of my family (his mom's maiden name was Speer)...so it was close enough that i always pronounced it that way? I dunno. ..

I never actually thought much about the twins but guess I picture them resembling MA and Kristy with long dark hair and being pretty small. I liked it that the one's name is Mariah because that's my cousin's name, too (I don't see that cousin much but reading the name makes me think of her)

I imagined the Shillaber twins to look like Heather and Erica from the original Degrassi series.
Yeah, Mariah Carey wasn't popular until about 1990 and the first BSC book was written in 1986.
The pronounciation of Myriah Perkins will forever confuse me. When I was younger, I used to say Myra, but now I think of it as "My-ree-uh" (like "myriad" I guess)
Another one who said "Spy-er"

i didn't know spier was pronounced "speer" until the book where they said that "spier" did not rhyme with "crier." i feel like they had to include that anecdote because no reader was saying it right.

Yeah the Shillaber Twins and Lauren Hoffman got ditched and so did Dorianne Wallingford, Emily Bernstein, Howie Johnston, Rick Chow and Pete Black. Who would you rather have sat with? Claudia and Stacey's group or Kristy and MA's group?

claudia and stacey's. kristy and ma's group seemed really boring.

I actually preferred MA and Kristy's group (did they really have a "Group" outside of the twins, though?), probably because I never cared about being "cool" or fashion or anything like that. I would have probably more enjoyed talking about something with MA or making fun of the lunch with Kristy. I don't know, they just seemed like more fun to me. I might have been friends with individual members of the Claud/Stacey group but would probably have tried to distance myself from them, if that makes any sense, because I didn't like when friends like that entered "cool" mode (which happened more often in group settings like that)
