I don't think she is that much younger than Mrs. Kishi; i just think she has a very different personality. I got the feeling that Peaches and Russ had been married for quite a long time and just were too busy with their careers and kept on putting it off. and then they were like, "wow, better get on the baby train before the factory closes for business."

^ I thought the same thing. My aunt is only 3 years younger than my mom but always seemed like a "kid" (until she had kids of her own....) I kind of got the impression that Peaches and Russ waited for a while to have kids and then when they were ready, they had trouble getting pregnant. Maybe I'm just thinking that, though, because that's how it was for my aunt and uncle who I really relate Russ and Peaches to.

^i think it's common, especially now, when people are waiting until pretty late to have kids.

^ I think so, too. Did one of the books say something about Peaches having trouble getting pregnant? I seem to remember that but might be imagining things. ;D

I really liked Mr. Kishi in Mystery at the Museum when he went to the party with Claudia. This reminds me of how I always do (and did ;D) things with my dad. Mr. Kishi seems like a nice guy in that book and the others when we actually get to see a little bit of his personality. Wish he would have been featured more....

^ I think MaryAnneSpier might have thought that Arnell was answering her question about Mrs. Kishi's glasses, not answering her statement to me about Mr. Kishi. (but I'm not sure ;D) I just know I was confused at first, too, with what Arnell was responding to. ;D

I like to think that Mr. and Mrs. Kishi were very understanding and supportive of Claudia, but it was just that she didn't see it. Or maybe it was just the shock after super-smart Janine. My younger sister is super smarter than I was in certain subjects, but when it comes to some subjects that I was better at, and she does a little worse, my mother tends to lecture, just a little, which upsets her. Mom tries not to do it, and I know that she appreciates all the talents that my sister does have, but it's kind of natural to compare people, even subconsciously, I guess. (Just so you all don't get the wrong impression, my mother is a wonderful mom! ;D) but that's what I'm think might be going on in the Kishi's case. One thing that always bugged me though - why would they care if she read Nancy Drews? I mean, my mother was always thrilled with me reading - whether I was reading Award winners or *cough*the BSC ;D (not dissing the BSC AT ALL!) but it just never made sense to me. I would think that she would be happy for Claudia to read anything.

Because a child can't write THAT bad right, and there must be some negative influence in her life that makes her such a terrible writer? And since her mother is a librarian, that was the conclusion that she came to? I dunno.
