Just a quick question: How many FF books does Cary Retlin appear in? I'm wondering because I read three books in a row which featured Cary pretty heavily (Kristy Power!, Claudia Gets Her Guy and Mary-Anne's Revenge) and it's making me think that there was something big planned for him, but the series had to end early. (Or was the series always planned as fourteen books? *sigh* Sometimes I regret not being born in the right year for following these books. I don't know anything about their history.)

i like cary and ma together.
i don't think they were always planned for fourteen books. i think that the new direction of the series did not attract new readers like they hoped and turned off long-term fans. i've always liked ff, however.

I think if FF had continued, one of the girls would be dating Cary. It seemed like something like that was being set up. I just can't think of which one. Well, Cary dating a BSC member or becoming a BSC member. Whichever you like. I can see why FF would turn off old readers. I love the originals for the group dynamic and it's weird seeing the BSC scaled down to four members and the books hardly ever mentioning the ex members. (And then two of them fighting for about half the FFs, making it even weirder.)

Hahaha, I liked that too, I thought it was funny. I just read Stacey and the Boyfriend Trap and was pretty disappointed, given that I liked the other FFs I've read so far. It was entertaining at first, but by the end it was just awful. It sounded like poorly written fan fiction by the end of the last chapter, especially the scene where Jeremy breaks up with Stacey. The whole book felt a little rushed. I did like the little bit of snark in it, when Claudia says it's a good thing Stacey's so good at math so that she can keep track of all of her boyfriends, and when Stacey wondered if she was weird for having so many exes at age 13. Those moments made me laugh! And I thought it was true to character that Tobey turned out to be a douchebag. Considering how sleazy he was by the end of SS#10, it only fit.
