...have her ears pierced? I am currently reading Mary Anne to the Rescue and she claims that until seventh grade, she wasn't allowed to have pierced ears and that, yes, she finally has them done now. Another continuity error or did she get her ears pierced at some point during the series that I've overlooked?

I can't remember her ever getting her ears pierced, I can only remember her saying she would 'never get her ears pierced!' Weird.

In Mallory and the Trouble With Twins, I think it says that Mary Anne doesn't have her ears pierced. Maybe it is one of those things that keeps changing throughout the series. I will keep my eyes open for more about MA's pierced ears in the other books and see what I can find.

In "Kristy and the Worst Kid Ever", Logan buys her earrings! I think it's just a continuity thing... In some books she does, and in most books she doesn't.

Just wanted to report that Mary Anne has pierced ears in #98 as well.

In Baby-sitters Beware, Claudia lends her a pair of earrings, but it doesn't specify whether or not they are pierced. Still, when I hear "earrings" I think pierced.

^ It would be unusual for a 13 yr old to wear clip ons, wouldn't it? I've only seen old ladies wear them.

^ I think I read it in MA & Too Many Babies that she wears clip-ons. Well, I know a couple of 13-year olds who wear fake tattoos (not really friends of mine), so maybe wearing clip-ons is not that unusual? I dunno.

Hmm. You know, in "Logan Likes Mary Anne", she talks about putting on some small hoop earrings that were her mothers. It doesn't specify if they were clip ons or not, though.

I thought Claudia made earrings for everyone once and she made clip ons for Mary Anne and Kristy. They sounded like those jumbo papier-mache' things she (Claud) was so fond of, so I'd think they'd be kinda hard to keep on their ears.

^ Maybe it's just a paper-mache ornament hanging from a piece of tape? And they just stuck the tape on their ear?

I was just starting to read Mary Anne and the Playground Fight (although I've put it aside for now, because Mary Anne mentions Dawn's new half-sister, so now I'm reading Dawn, Diary Two instead because it must come first chronologically), and on page 4 she says, "I also have pierced ears and a haircut I like."

^ Considering ear-piercing was a zomg major dibbly fresh life-changing event, it's funny that the occasion of MA's actual ear piercing was never referred to. There was never a book in which the Momentous Occasion took place.

In Kristy & the Copycat (#76, I believe) Karen asks Mary Anne why she DOESN'T have her ears pierced and MA says she hasn't ever wanted them pierced.
