^Illustrated by Hodges? Haha. An outfit picture book would have been awesome.

^ Agreed. I would love to see a picture book of Claudia's outfits.

I used to think Claudia's "autumn colors" outfit in First Thanksgiving was all right, but this:
is actually a little worrying. Ronald McDonald much?

I've been reading the Harry Potter books and Luna's fashion sense reminds me of Claudia's. However, everybody thinks Luna is a freak for it.
I LOVE Luna.

I'm trying to re-read "Claudia and the Mystery in the Painting." I think her opening outfit has to be one of the worst/ugliest sounding ever.
Personally I think Mrs. Kishi's outfit, that Claudia describes as " totally boring," sounds a whole lot better. "She (Mrs. K) wore a plain black skirt, and a plain red blouse." Mrs. K was also wearing book-shaped earrings (that really opened) msde by Claud.

^ Mrs. Kishi sounds no different from Stacey, Mary Anne or Dawn

^You know, you're right! Stacey is always said to mainly wear the newest but sleekest clothes. Unlike Claud her style is "grown up" as opposed to crazy with color. It's also no different from Janine. Maybe Claudia scorns both her mom and Janine for the way they dress simply because she (C) doesn't think J anyway has the confidence to wear something "plain" well. As for her mom (and dad) I think Claud mainly associates them with their jobs--things she has zero interest in--so of course anything that goes with that (style of dress) is also boring or weird.

Teenagers are supposed to 'hate' everything about their parents without seeing the bigger picture. I'm sure I said similar things around her age and would cringe now if I remembered what exactly.
What you said is also interesting about associating the older family members with working hard/ business. I wonder if Claudia would have found it harder to relate to Stacey in the future as she matured and wore even more sophisticated/mature clothes and got into business or accounting or something like that, like feeling alienated from her...and relating to Mallory being a starving artist/writer.

^ that's a really interesting point supprazz, but i definitely see claudia resenting stacey in the future (not even about the clothes, but about their career choices.) even when you're making a living doing something you love, it has to be hard seeing your best friend making lots of money and being successful at something you can't do. i'm sure that in the future, claudia and mallory will have this in common.

Supprazz and Oldhickory, that is very interesting. I do think a big part of why Claudia liked Stacey was based on Stacey's fashion sense. Other than when the McGills moved to NY and the infamous time Stacey tutored Claud, I don't think they ever talked much (if any) about things outside clothes, boys, and sometimes art did they? I mean not BSC-related or in "Christmas Chiller." I wonder if even as they moved through high school if their friendship might have changed?

Thanks for the feedback, it is interesting thinking about their futures since the series wasn't like Sweet Valley in the sense we saw the Wakefields and the others as kids, midde schoolers, high schoolers and university students.

Sorry if it's been mentioned before, but this is one reason why the BSC's reactions to outsiders like Ashley and Tess are absolutely infuriating. Bell-bottoms and pink? The horror! But Claudia could totally have pulled it off. Anyway, I was just looking for some ideas for a hideous-sounding outfit and found this: nine.frenchboys.net/outfit.php (no longer functional, but you can find it on the Wayback Machine at web.archive.org) Make your own Claudia outfit!

I felt like Claudia today actually - we had mis-match day at work, and I wore something equivalent to her. Because I am not as cool as Claudia and only own pants that match with everything though, it may not have been too bad. I wore jeans, a maroon dress over that, a red sock with white hearts on it on one foot, a neon green sock with silver spiders on it on the other, black ballet flats (only flats I have that are comfortable enough to wear to work!), a necklace that didn't match anything, a green zipped up hoodie that was a different green from my sock, two different earrings, a pigtail on one side, and a braided pigtail on the other, and one silver ring (my wedding band) and one gold ring with a blue stone. It was something that only Claudia could pull off and one of the regular customers actually asked me if I was okay. He said I seemed a little 'hurried' that day and he knew what 'that place' can do to you. Haha!
