Stacey still wears some strange outfits, though. Laine always seemed like she probably actually dressed "sophisticated" as opposed to the allegedly sophisticated clothing Stacey sported.

Thats true, I noticed that especially in Stacey's Ex Best friend. I like to think Claud got less artsy, and more trendy as she got older, haha.

I spent 6th, 7th and 8th grade--the earliest 90's--trying to be Claudia, and got horrifically made fun of for it (Midwestern Catholic school--with no uniforms but lots of rich kids), although I got some great compliments on some of the jewelry. I never made my own, but I wore big jewelry for a couple years after big jewelry went out. The bright colors didn't sit well with my more conservative classmates, and I even got told that one of my shirts was "annoying." What doesn't help is my mom didn't let me lose the glasses or wear makeup before 9th grade. Glasses + braces + no makeup + dressing like Claudia = disaster. Thanks so much Ann for making junior high girls think that dressing like Claudia will make you popular and attract boys! I think it was 9th grade when I finally admitted I was a Mary-Anne (post-braids of course) and went for the quieter clothes. However, I still kept comparing my crushes to BSC crushes...my 7th grade one was Trevor Sandbourne, my first boyfriend was Logan, etc. Yes I'm a freak. :-)

^ I was totally the same way with my clothes in 7th grade!!! No one ever made fun of me, which has to be a miracle. I too had glasses, but no braces and HUGE teeth and a HUGE forehead taht grew up before the rest of me. I didn't wear makeup, either, but I also didn't have any money to buy any. Not sure what my mom would have done if I'd asked to wear it!

I had tons of "biker shorts" (thats what we called them) as a kid. I wore them with everything. I had a see-thru pair meant to go under skirts that I tried wearing with a gray sweatshirt once (no skirt, just the see-thru bottoms) with crimped hair. I remember my mom would buy me outfits that came with a pair of biker shorts (but not stretchy ones, just regular cotton) that had patterns all over them, and the top that came with it ALWAYS had a little ruffle going around the waist, like a super short, waist-length dress or something. I don't know. I thought I was pretty d**n cool, though. I didn't wear this at 13 though! Yeah, bike shorts! I remember wanting a pair *badly* in about 4th grade. My parents refused to let me get them, saying they weren't appropriate. Girls would just wear them with baggy tshirts in those days. Looking back, they were hideous, and no way would I have worn them in middle school.

I generally wore bike shorts with big shirts but honestly the see-through pair (which you just reminded me of by quoting that post, lol)... there's a picture of me on Christmas eve wearing the outfit I described and god I should find it and scan it for you guys. I think I was 9 which was in 1992 and I distinctly remembering putting on the see through "shorts" (honestly they were actually tights for under skirts. they were NOT meant to be worn with just a shirt!) and crimping my hair and thinking I looked sooooo dibble and then I walked out into the living room and my entire family was like "WTF?!?!?!" If I find that picture I will scan it so you guys understand.

Can someone explain the see-through shorts to me? I'm imagining, like, clear vinyl stripper-type clothing :X

^ ;D I remember the lacy shorts that one of my barbie dolls had for under a long shirt so that's what I'm thinking of. I had some.... interesting.... outfits as a kid, too. But I guess that was the style back then. Was just watching an old video and practically screamed when I saw the flowered knit pantsuit thing my friend was wearing. ;D

^ That one is definitely bad. ;D Actually, most of them sound pretty "interesting" to me. I wonder if the other girls really think they're cool or if they're just trying to make her feel good about herself or trying to be good friends.

I know this is the worst, not best, outfit thread, but the othe day I found a creation that wasn't bad at all (I think it was in Undercover Babysitter): yellow overall shorts, a tie-dyed baby T, purple jellies, toenails painted scarlet. I would have found an outfit like that at thirteen really fresh Oh my lord, when I was about 10, I got some hand me downs from an older relative, the 'You can grow into them' ones, and there were some denim yellow overall shorts that I wanted to keep because I thought it seemed like something Claudia would wear... and she did! When I was older and could actually fit into them I didnt want them anymore
