^ I don't like it because I'm not really interested in clothes and makeup.

Gotta love Kristy. I love that she is a tomboy who doesn't mind now and then to doll up herself. Her outspoken, bossy ways are fun to read. I've noticed I always gravitate to people that are similar to Kristy. Kristy and Mary Anne's relationship was the best friendship. I love reading fanfiction of those.

Kristy was my favorite when I was a kid. I considered myself a leader and outspoken (although, looking back, I wasn't really) and I thought I was most like her.

I always snickered when the members went on and on about how she dressed and then added in something about mascara once in awhile haha I felt that it was after Baby Sitters Summer Vacation

I know Kristy was based on Ann's best friend, but do you think part of her appearance was based on a lesbian friend or ex-girlfriend of hers or something? Just because her uniform of jeans, sweatshirt and turtleneck is like the Lesbian Dress Code (and I say this with love). Like, seriously. I know tons of lesbians who would probably be just chill wearing that outfit.
And turtlenecks aren't really that comfortable. They always bunch up and strangle your neck. And don't get me started on dickies. I was raised by Grandparents and I'm horrified to say I wore them as a kid. What's up with the turtleneck look? I agree that some turtlenecks can be chic and fashionable IF worn in the right way.
Remember in Kristy and the Sister War, I believe, where Claud takes Kristy shopping and then Kristy gets a makeover? I always remember her saying that she looked pretty with makeup. And I picture Kristy as a pretty, petite, tomboy. She was actually portrayed cute, especially on the later covers, like Kristy + Bart = ?, Mind Your Own Business, Kristy at Bat, etc.

Maybe. I dressed like Kristy as a kid, more or less, and while I'm into fashion now, I often veer into androgyny and am mistaken for a lesbian frequently. Kristy has always been her favorite, so maybe she was, like, Ann's ideal at 13.

I couldn't decide whether to post this here or in Logan's thread, but do you think there was any significance to Logan being the only guy Kristy's age that she spent a lot of time around and didn't have a combative relationship with? Kristy/Alan, Kristy/Bart, Kristy/Cary, Kristy/Canadian dude were all the same push/pull relationship over and over again. I can't decide if Kristy thought of Logan as her equal or that he was too insignificant to matter. (Likely neither, but that's not an interesting answer.)

Maybe Kristy wasn't combative with Logan as to avoid any tension that might arise between her, Mary Anne and Logan.

Maybe also Logan reminded Kristy of early Bart (who liked) so that factored into her accepting him much more. Of course, I'd like to think she was also happy for Mary Anne. Another idea, is that unlike the other choices, Logan didn't directly involve her in terms of a closer (just 2 of them) relationship. I wonder if that might have changed had she ever (now that I type this I wonder why she never did especially once Logan and Jake Kuhn became tight) asked him to help coach the Krushers.

You have a point, sparklymouse. Kristy didn't seem to like guys very much throughout the series.

It's interesting, too, that Kristy was never threatened by Logan in terms of her relationship with Mary Anne, the way she was with Dawn. Even I, as an adult, feel kind of threatened when a good friend of mine is in a new relationship, because there is less time for my demanding Leo self.

I know tons of lesbians who would probably be just chill wearing that outfit. There may be something to that. I work at a large call center and can think of two lesbian coworkers right off the top of my head that have the Kristy dress code going on. One of them always tops it off with a scarf that she never takes off even though the building is over heated. She even had the Kristy hairdo of a daily pony tail for the longest time but I do believe she cut it short.

(Likely neither, but that's not an interesting answer.) my answer would be that kristy is naturally attracted to guys she could compete with, and since logan was absolutely off limits she didn't seek that sort of competition with him. he could actually be "just a friend" without anything more. plus logan is a LOT more chill than alan or cary, or bart even, so he won't compete with her either.
