I don't see how being a feminist and opinionated would make Kristy a lesbian though. I'm plenty opinionated/feminist, and I am totally straight. Agree. This is me, too. My mom is a lot like Kristy and is definitely straight, too. I actually don't think any of the characters are intended to be gay. I think they are as they are presented - straight. I totally agree with you,aln

I don't think most people seriously think that Kristy and Abby were INTENDED to be lesbians (though Abby might have been, who the heck knows?), I think it's just a humorous thing, or something interesting to explore in fanfic.
Personally, I like the idea in the sense that it's fun to read about, but I don't think any of it was intentional. I wasn't athletic at all, I'm a pretty girly-girl, always have been, and I didn't turn out straight, so...

Aln, try Maid Mary Anne for Logan's jokes. I remember thinking they were pretty funny in the cheesy sense. I think there is one of him falling and saying something about needing a kiss to make him feel better enough to get up.

^ Thanks. I seem to remember him being really corny in that one and some of the other later books, too. His humor seemed to go downhill later in the series. Ghostwriters..... ;D

I must say that Logan gave me unrealistic expectations of what guys would act like at age 13. Then I actually got to be 13 and discovered that all the guys I went to school with were practically Neanderthals compared to ol' Logan. In fact, this whole book series gave me unrealistic expectations of what my life would be like! I think it's one reason I like it so much. It's a fantasy world.

Oh I definitely agree with you candykane! I always thought I would meet a nice guy in middle school and have a steady boyfriend. I didn't even take into account that I was not allowed to date until I was 16. My mindset was werid as well, I was not as mature as Mary Anne and Stacey. When a guy asked me out, I asked him, "Out where?" he replied, "Movies or something." and I replied, "How are we going to get there?" it is funny to think about now. I am now thankful I was not allowed to date until I was 16, it saved me a lot of trouble.
Too bad there weren't more Stoneybrookite like guys in middle school and high school for that fact!
It also seems that middle schoolers in general are getting smaller and smaller. I am tutoring a 6th grader and sadly I think, "Man, he is Mallory's and Jessi's age. He still has a nanny!"

I see what you’re saying about Logan’s kind of annoying humor in Maid Mary Anne. It was a little much but he was so sweet to MA and Mrs. Towne that I overlooked it. ;D I did sense something (maybe just in my imagination ;D) between him in Dawn in that one, though. Something about the scene where “Logan sat down next to Dawn and I sat in front of them....” maybe. What MA can’t see, won’t hurt her??? ;D

I didn't think his humor was too annoying...lol. Just kinda silly. I thought he was very sweet to Mary Anne and Mrs. Towne! I didn't sense anything between Dawn and Logan, but I should re-read it and keep that in mind.

In junior high/middle school, most of the boys haven't hit a growth spurt yet, so a lot of them are a head shorter than the girls. That's pretty funny at the music school DH and I went to (look at www.csehy.com to know more about it), because the boys escort the girls before the concerts. When the boys are still too small to be playing a full-size violin and the girl has stopped growing, they can be quite a sight.

^ He was definitely sweet in that book to them both. I think Logan often is. That's one thing I really like about him. I also like his humor in a lot of books. He really makes me laugh as the narrator in his chapters and his books. Wish he would have had more books in the series.

Re: the Logan being funny thing, he was hilarious in Logan Bruno, Boy Babysitter (when he didn't sound like a girl - I swear Peter Lerangis does 13 year old girls better than boys). Some highlights: "I think Kristy could be marooned on a South Sea island without a watch, and she'd still know when it was exactly five-thirty on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. And she'd probably cry out 'Order!' to the seagulls." "'Heyyy, Logan, planning any more field trips?'... 'I was thinking of the Museum of Natural History,' I replied, 'but they might mistake you for one of the exhibits.'" "'Order!' Kristy said at the precise click of 5:30 on the clock. 'BLT on rye toast!' I called out." I seem to remember more, but those are the ones that I saw just flipping through. I remember a scene with his dad being cheesy/funny as well, so I think that must be where he gets it.
