I think the difference between the BSC updates and the SVH updates is that Raina is a big BSC fan and feels the same fondness that we do toward the series. So she would have never made a decision like getting rid of 1BRUCE1. She just changed things like prices to make sense with inflation, and added things like that flashback from Stacey's portrait in The Truth About Stacey which BSC fans would recognize and appreciate. I agree with this wholeheartedly. While I did enjoy reading the new SVH books I knew just by how much was changed that the person who wrote these wasn't much of an SVH fan. There were some that needed to be there, like all the 80s references being updated and the technology, but the twins going from a size 6 to a size 4 and changing the name of the Dairi Burger to Casa Del Sol didn't need to be in there at all (and of course 1Bruce1). Those changes were frivolous and downright stupid .

I would read updated versions just to see what was changed. I think some Judy Blume books have been updated, but she probably did the all the changes herself. She seems very protective of her work.

They did? Wow. Yeah, that belt confused me as a kid as well. I had to ask my mom about it.

The in-between time when pads were pinned to panties honestly makes more sense than the belt stuff.

I am happy that someone invented tampons.

About three years ago, I started using a menstrual cup. I cannot imagine using anything else at this point. There are people who go crazy over them, and want to tell everyone and convert all their family, but I just... use it and like it.
The belt thing always threw me off, too.

What's a menstrual cup? I'm curious.

Basically, it's a reusable cup that holds the menstrual fluid, versus absorbing it, and you empty the cup when it's full. It takes a little bit to get used to, to know when it's full (usually, the first few months, you're emptying it more than you should), and getting it inserted and removed, but once you've got it, it's really easy. Like I said, I've been using mine for three years, and I can't imagine using anything else. divacup.comthekeeper.commooncup.co.uk

Ok, so my high school had a large addition built on while I was going there. The tampon/pad machines in the new bathrooms were I think $.35. The machines in the old part were $.05. (This should have been my first clue.) One day I was in one of the old bathrooms and needed a pad. (This machine only sold pads. Clue #2?) In the little cardboard box I got was something that looked like a tube sock (it was so big) and two safety pins. It was 1997. Blew my mind. I think by the time I graduated two years later they had finally replaced those machines with new ones. ;D
