Other than the super specials, several books take place outside of Stoneybrook. Dawn goes to CA in a few and Stacey and Jessi go to NY and the Pikes vacation in Sea City. There might be others, too, that I can't remember. What are your thoughts on these books? I really enjoy occasionally reading about other places and they seem like "mini super specials." My favorites are Stacey's Mistake because it describes all of the sites in NYC - all of which I would like to see. I also love Boy Crazy Stacey, especialy the part about the boardwalk, and MA and Too Many Boys because I'm always a Sea City fan. Dawn on the Coast is enjoyable just for its description of Disneyland (I want to go back there!). My least favorite is Jessi's Big Break in NYC because very little of the city is mentioned. I would also have liked to have a book where Jessi went back to Oakley and think this could have been interesting to see how things had changed/stayed the same.

I'm not sure which is my favourite, but I tried to make a list of non-Super Special books that have parts taking place outside of Stoneybrook. I'm sure I'm missing some (for example, Stacey makes an awful lot of weekend visits to NYC and it's hard to catch every one), but here's the list so far:
#3 The Truth About Stacey - NYC #8 Boy-Crazy Stacey - Sea City, NJ #18 Stacey's Mistake - NYC #23 Dawn on the Coast - CA (I'm not sure Palo City is named yet, though that's where she is) #28 Welcome Back, Stacey! - NYC #34 Mary Anne and Too Many Boys - Sea City, NJ #43 Stacey's Emergency - NYC #58 Stacey's Choice - NYC #64 Dawn's Family Feud - Boston, MA #72 Dawn and the We <3 Kids Club - Palo City, CA #76 Stacey's Lie - Fire Island, NY #77 Dawn and Whitney, Friends Forever - Palo City, CA #97 Claudia and the World's Cutest Baby - Philadelphia, PA #99 Stacey's Broken Heart - NYC #115 Jessi's Big Break - NYC #121 Abby in Wonderland - the Hamptons, Long Island, NY #126 The All-New Mallory Pike - Riverbend Hall, Easton, MA #129 Kristy at Bat - Delaware
M#8 Jessi and the Jewel Thieves - NYC M#12 Dawn and the Surfer Ghost - Palo City, CA M#17 Dawn and the Halloween Mystery - Palo City, CA M#30 Kristy and the Mystery Train - train from Boston, MA to Charleston, SC
FF#1 Kristy's Big News - Sausalito, CA FF#6 Stacey and the Boyfriend Trap - NYC FF#9 Kristy and the Kidnapper - Washington, D.C. FF#10 Stacey's Problem - NYC FF#11 Welcome Home, Mary Anne - NYC
Also sections of the Portrait Books, but I'm too lazy to check the places in each one.
Feel free to add to the list!

I get bored with the Stacey in NYC books. I'm not really interested in NYC... I'd much rather read about Dawn in sunny CA! From the list wandering posted, I love Dawn on the Coast, all the Sea City books, and Dawns Family Feud.

I liked all of Sea City and the Pike kids doing crazy things, especially Burger Garden and playing miniature golf. I guess my favorite books are #8 and Super Special #10 because of the hurricane. I like Dawn when she is in CA but I have been there so it is kinda boring.

I love Boy Crazy Stacey and Dawn on the Coast. I haven't read Stacey's Lie in AGES, it must have been one of the very last ones I read as a kid because I only vaguely remember it, but I do remember liking it a lot. Of course I can't say it's one of my faves until I re-read it (I should do that soon I guess!), though. I also liked Stacey's Mistake because I love bitchy Stacey.

I love when Kristy orders "fill-it mig-nun" at the Hard Rock Cafe and Stacey almost dies of embarrassment. When I was 16, I went on a school band trip to New York and my friend Shavon's mother was one of our chaperones. After we left the Hard Rock Cafe, Shavon's mother showed us that she had stolen one of the menus for a souvenir. It's not like they're paper menus -- they're huge and in those plastic and faux leather things. We were so embarrassed, and it made me think of Kristy and Stacey.

Wow - had forgotten how many there were. Thanks for the list Wanderingfrog and I enjoyed the Hard Rock story I love that part of Stacey's Mistake and how it always reminds me of when I ate at the Hard Rock in Atlanta when I was about 11. All I could think about was Kristy, too, and was tempted to order "fill-it mig-nun" (but settled for a hamburger Going from the list, I also loved Boston with the Freedom Trail and Philadelphia but wished that it would have had some of the historical sites instead of the art ones, though it made more sense to include those, as I'm into history but not art. My dad just went to Philadelphia and videoed some stuff for me and I just kept picturing Claudia walking around dragging her boxcar suitcases. I had also had my dad read World's Cutest Baby (yes, I've made him read some BSC books and he said he was thinking the same thing. Claudia's "boxcars" always give both of us a laugh.

My favorites are the Sea City books. I also like the books in which the attractions of NYC are heavily featured.

I think Sea City has the most votes by far - something about that place just has a nice "summery" feel. I would like to go there and I don't even like the beach (live 1 mi from Lake Michigan but haven't been to the beach for about 2 or 3 years I had forgotten where Mystery Train took place. Does it talk about any of the sights on the trip or just about the train ride, itself? I may have to reread soon if it talks about the sights.

I'm reading Boy-Crazy Stacey right now. It's one of my favorites but I hadn't read it for awhile. I just love it. It's got the awesome hysterical moments like when Stacey and Mary Anne show their bikinis to each other and Stacey has narratives about how her top is so filled out and Mary Anne's isn't at all. And I love the narrative "I'm not shy. I whipped off my clothes." Oh Stacey.

I had forgotten about that line of in Boy Crazy Stacey I'm going to reread soon (have it packed to take to Disney next week and now am looking forward to it even more. I think it is one of my top ten favorite BSC books. Stacey's Mistake and MA and Too Many Boys are on the list, too.

I love Stacey's Mistake (because NYC from a child's point of view is always fun) and the Sea City books. Weirdly, I didn't care for New York, New York! that much.
