Haha yeah for a moment I forgot that Mallory was in the club and was thinking of the Pikes as charges ;D

^ ;D Well they are some of the main ones Anyway, sorry if I sounded "jerky" (to use one of Kristy's words ;D) Just remembered the Hills were choices for the Worst Client Parent so thought you might want to vote for them there. I know there are some other really bad ones on that poll, too.

I still think the Pikes are the worst (besides Patrick). In Dawn's Wicked Stepsister they hire babysitters for all of their SICK kids during the Pike Plague so that they can go to a freaking tennis match in Stamford. The justification for this is that the tickets were expensive. Like.... it's in Stamford. Obviously it's not Wimbledon or the US Open or anything. How important could it be that you hire 13 year olds to take care of your sick kids? Ugh, HATE!

aln, jack seems much less "buddy" in ca diaries. i think it was the "disneyland daddy" phase that made him seem more friendlike than dadlike.

^ Yuck, I didn't remember that one. In Mallory on Strike, Mrs. Pike calls Mallory down to clean up a glass of milk that Byron or one of the triplets spilled. Erm, isn't he TEN?
Stacey's trips to NY seemed to be mainly shopping getaways with her father working. Stacey and Mr. McGill just didn't seem to interact that much.

I haven't read any of the CA diaries so that makes sense that I would see him differently. Agree about Stacey not interacting much with her dad. He's another one I don't care for as a father - kind of reminds me of how I see Jack. Maybe the two of them could meet and go golfing (or do some other activity like that) together ;D

I thought Jack was a TOTAL Disneyland Daddy in the regular series. I haven't read CD yet so I can't comment on him there, though. But I would imagine that having both of his kids around full-time would've taken away the Disneyland Daddy image pretty quickly.

I have a soft spot for Mr. Schafer because I always saw him as a fun, easygoing dad. I liked how he spent so much time with his kids and how he took them with him on dates and all that. And in California Girls, he reacted pretty responsibly about Stacey getting into the car accident.

I think he only did that stuff because he was a part-time dad. Dawn was in CT and even when they were in CA he had Mrs Bruen around. I mean in Dawns Portrait, he stays out all night with his friends, comes home at breakfast or the next evening. He seemed like a crappy parent to me.

^that was only in the events leading up to the divorce though. i get the feeling mrs. schafer was being insufferable at this moment.

^ I actually didn't get that feeling but maybe it's just me since I tend to like Sharon. I agree with Sotypical that book didn't give me a very good impression of Jack.

Jack needing to have Mrs. Bruen around rubbed me the wrong way even as a kid. I remember when they are discussing whether or not Jeff can come live with him in CA, Jack says "well, I'd need to get a housekeeper" and I always think, "WHY?!" Like, he can't handle cleaning up after one kid? That definitely gave me the impression that he was living up his "bachelor lifestyle" when the kids were in CT. And I agree with aln and sotypical about his staying out all night in Dawn's Portrait. Even if Sharon was being difficult at the time, they were still married and he still had responsibilities to his family. I'm not really a fan of Jack, although I don't think he was the WORST parent in the bunch.

I don't like Sharon at all but honestly no matter how insufferable she was being (I never got that impression) Jack acted like a child. You know if him and Sharon were simply dating and he acted like that, maybe it'd be a bit more understandable. But this is a married couple with children. It's a whole different ballgame and it's really distasteful to put on that display for Jeff and Dawn and let them see that.
I don't HATE Jack like I do some of the other parents, but I definitely don't think he is as good of parent as he should be and honestly I think Sharon is even a better parent than he is and I really don't like that woman at all!

Mr and Mrs. Pike were hardly at home with their 8 kids, even when they weren't working! They could at least spend some time with them. It's like you hardly hear from them.

Like other people have said, I don't consider Patrick a parent so I didn't include him in my voting. I went for Mr McGill - I've just reread Island Adventure and a couple of Stacey books, so he might be foremost in my mind, but he seems incredibly selfish and childish.
