You could tell by looking at my Jessi books that they were not favorites...they looked brand-new.

My least favorites: -Super Mystery #4 The Babysitters' Christmas Chiller. I'm in the middle of re-reading it, and I think even for a Super Mystery, it's way too melodramatic, especially Stacey and Claudia's subplot. Getting stalked through NYC by Ethan's psycho ex? I felt like I was reading the script to a bad Lifetime movie.
-#86 Mary Anne & Camp BSC. While I had great fun snarking this painful book for the snark community on LJ, it was pretty brutal to read through. Mary Anne's a big baby and whines too much, and the whole book is boring, apart from Karen and her bratty friends wrecking havoc and insulting the BSC, then Kristy almost losing it during the dress rehearsal but letting the group get away with their destruction with only a weak talking-to. It pissed me off, but at the same time, was fun to read heh. Also, when I first read the book it was either right after or right before I saw the movie, and thought the plots were kind of similar.
-#82 Jessi and the Troublemaker. Granted, I've only skimmed this one at the library (one of the few BSC books we have left), but from what I read, it sucks. Another case of the BSC encountering a problem with a charge and not telling the parents about it. And it's the prelude to Stacey flying the coop, so there's a lot of sh*ting all over her in it that I don't like.
-#54 Mallory and the Dream Horse. While this does hold the honor of the first BSC I ever owned, and I've read it a lot, it's cringe-worthy to read through it now. The plot is predictable, the subplot (the Pike talent show) is stupid and pointless, the other subplot (Nina's blankie) is yet ANOTHER case of the BSC not telling the parents that a kid is having difficulty with something. And Mallory is just so unbelievably dense - not realizing that maybe Jessi is giving her the b*tch treatment because she's bragging endlessly about her riding lessons that Jessi wasn't allowed to partake in?
Other than that, I can't think of any I truly disliked.

This was entertaining to read. It's making me rethink my overall opinion on MA, too. I just looked at the covers of Jessi's Baby-sitter and Wish. On the first, she definitely looks as tall as Aunt Cecelia, while poor Squirt (who was supposed to be 14 months..then a year and a half and finally closer to two)? resembles a dumb looking tiny doll with big ears. On J's Wish, no way is she only 11. Also, to me Becca looks more Asian-African American than just African-American.
ITA, about all the comments on Mary Anne's behavior in Spirit War. I remember in college wearing my pj's to a class once. Of course my pj's have pretty much always been flannel bottoms and a t shirt so nothing revealing or embarassment causing. Back to MA, for someone so opposed to wearing her pj's to school she sure spent a whole lot of engery debating! I wanted to yell at her to simply not wear the d**n things or shut up about her turmoil. That should be the biggest problem she ever faces.
Yes, most of the Jessi books, particularly, Happy Holidays Jessi and Jessi's Horrible Prank, I did not like at all. Oh cannot forget the particularly vile, waste of paper in Jewel Thieves! That just might be my pick for the worst BSC book ever! As I've said before I am not a Dawn fan so the majority of her books I could have done without save for some reason Dawn Schafer Undercover Baby Sitter and I admit to liking parts of Sleepover.
Others I did not care for:
Little Miss Stoneybrook and Dawn Baby Parade Kristy Thomas, Dog Trainer Abby's Un -Valentine Claudia and the Lighthouse Ghost MA to the Rescue
I liked Winter Vacation but not Summer Vacation.

Dog Trainer is a book that manages to be both boring AND depressing. A real coup!

Baby-Sitters Island Adventure. You know that a book is bad when the author pretends it doesn't exist in another book.

Kristy was irritating in the Secret of Susan. I could handle her being a bossy know it all when she knew what she was talking about, but here she really had no clue and just thought she had the magic touch with all kids. Kristy isn't irritating. Don't be mean to her!

i don't like many Kristy themed books. Kristy is too bitchy for me. She's OK though, but most the time I want to slap her. Hey that's not nice to say. Be nice to Kristy, don't say you want to slap her because that is mean and don't say she's bitchy that is cursing and will not be allowed on this site.

California Girls, the Baby Sitters in Shadow Lake, most Mallory and Jessi books, Dawn Saves the Planet and Farewell, Dawn. There is more, but I haven't finished reading them yet.

Jessi and the Super Brat.
I really hate those two books because they're just super boring!

Abby's UnValentine. Jessi and the Super Brat. I really hate those two books because they're just super boring! Totally agree about Jessi and the Superbrat - that one is so boring; definitely not one that I ever reach for when I feel like re-reading.

I also can't stand The Fire at Mary Anne's House because the whole premise is depressing and Mary Anne and her family lose everything.
