^I didn't get to play the flute either. I was assigned to the clarinet.

I think the trumpet is cool...I've known hot guys who play the trumpet.

Key word there is guys. Girls just end up with gross lips and a chapstick addiction (even though they constantly told me I shouldn't) eventually they found out that I could play anything that they gave me, and I was forced to switch around.

I liked playing the clarinet a lot. I didn't mind playing the trumpet in jazz band, because I got to show off and solos and stuff. I don't like being in the background, so it suited me. I always wanted to try a double reed instrument, but never did. I also really wanted to play violin, but we didn't have an orchestra. So I don't know. I guess at the time I would have picked clarinet because I could be girly, but i did like playing trumpet. And there were no cute guys in my band. There just weren't. They were all super dorky. A ll the hot guys played the sax. (So did Clinton, but I don't think this is the place for me to discuss my slight fascination with President Clinton. ) I wouldn't have traded my tennis racket for music though.

School orchestras are rare, unfortunately. DH's school had one but we didn't. I finally was able to learn violin in 11th and 12th grade, studying with a friend my own age as teacher. The only time I played in a real orchestra was at summer music school before 12th grade, just trying desperately to keep up at Csehy (www.csehy.com, if you're curious about one of our almae materae)

My high school had an orchestra and a jazz band, but not regular old band.

I like it how Lennie is mentioned in several of the early books (I don't think I've brought this one up yet. Sorry if I have. ;D) It almost seems like the early books had more details that were pretty consistent.

Stacey's Porky Pig imitation is brought up several times, but that was one of those characteristics that kind of disappeared as the series went on. I'm pretty sure Mallory hated her nose throughout the books, though.

Between Porky Pig and Mary Poppins, Stacey doesn't seem quite so sophisticated after all.

I'm pretty sure Mallory hated her nose throughout the books, though. I think Mal's nose was consistent. I had forgotten about Porky Pig but was going to bring that up the other day. I wish the later books wouldn't have seemed to forget so many details....

^ I was actually going to start a thread at one point about some of the disappearing characteristics, like the Porky thing.
