I owned quite a few books, and checked out a lot, too. I was a big reader back then.

I don't think Kristy reads a lot. On a related note, what about Abby's reading tastes?

In SS #10, Mallory is reading The Golden Key by George MacDonald. Since it is obviously a short story and she calls it a "book," she must be reading a short story collection of George MacDonald's which includes that story and is named after it.

I remember Kristy reading "The Lottery" and liking the ending.

I remember Kristy reading "The Lottery" and liking the ending. We read that in our English class. Freaky ending .

I'm reading Stacey's Ex-Best Friend, and Laine is reading a novel (I assume a romance) called "A Summer of Diamonds," which as far as I can tell from a quick Google doesn't exist. It sounds, honestly, like something that you could find in a couple of hundred fanfictions, including the Mary Sue-ish name Spectra. Obviously very mature. Stacey considers lying that she's reading "The Joy Luck Club" which is what Maureen is reading, but is afraid Laine will have read it, so she fesses up that she's reading "Black Beauty," on loan from Mal, of course.

I bet Mary Anne would be all over this book. Not only does it involve a cat, but there are plenty of moments for her to cry over.

Oh, I've wanted to read that I bet if Mal and Jessi were a little younger, they would have loved the Saddle Club. Horses became HUGE later on.

I'm pretty sure Kristy read The Witch of Blackbird Pond for one of her classes. I'm probably totally off but didn't they read that in Stacey McGill, Matchmaker (I think), where they were all trying to do a book club thing because Stacey and her mom read books together and discussed them?

I know that Stacey and Maureen read Pride and Prejudice, but I can't remember what the sitters read.

^ Oh yeah. I remember that now. I read that book because of it -- in order to secretly participate in their book club.
