In Karen's School Trip the kids were asked to bring a beverage with them to have with their lunch on their field trip to the zoo. Natalie Springer was all "Look what soda I brought. It's called Fresca and it's so, so delicious!" Which, ew. I hate Fresca. But it's such an odd product placement! They usually go out of their way not to mention real things.

I used to love Fresca when I was a kid, and when I drink it now, there's this gross aftertaste that bothers me. Maybe all small children love Fresca or something.
ETA: But generally the only real products mentioned WERE food. They made up bands and TV shows, or used ones from Ann's Jurassic youth, but they were always talking about Doritos or Oreos or Mallomars. How strange.

^That's true. Such a big part of Claudia's character was her junk food love. It would get very old very quickly if they only used generic words like "cookies" or "chips" or "candy" all the time.

^^ I believe its a lemon-lime flavored soda. Like Sprite, 7up or Sierra Mist. I don't see it around much anymore though.

They have a new Peach flavor in diet at Target stores in the US now. It's new and pretty good. Kind of tangy but fruity - hard to describe.

Original fresca is actually grapefruit flavored, I believe. My mom still drinks it. When I drank pop, I liked it, but I don't drink pop anymore. That's so random it got a LS mention.

This page is giving me cravings for milky way and 7up... Anyone remember the book where mary-anne makes sandwiches and cuts them into doll size triangles? That sounds so cute.

I like lemon-lime flavoured drinks okay (although I don't find that any of those lemon-lime drinks taste much like lemon or lime), but I guess I'd hate the original Fresca, because I hate grapefruit-flavoured things.

Well yeah, come to think of it they don't. I just find the taste of them gross and bland though.

Cheetos. Another Claudia favorite. She also loves ring dings and hohos and anything with a funny-sounding name.
About 90% of Mallomars are sold in the NYC Metropolitan area. They’re made by Nabisco and covered with pure dark chocolate--which means that they’ll melt in the summer months, so are only manufactured from about September to April. I love them.

If you're into strawberries, Stacey's Ex-Boyfriend is the book for you.

While rereading a BSC book the other day, it dawned on me that I have no clue what a Ring Ding is. Is it an East Coast or New England thing? I always pictured them to be like Ding Dongs.
