^That breakfast did sound good. A lot of food in the Little sister books always sounded good.
I agree about Dawn's food choices too, they always sounded healthy and good.

This is one of my favourite threads; it always makes me so hungry. In fact, I had to go and get a carrot dipped in hummus.
For me, the best sounding meal was Dawn's picnic in Dawn & Whitney Friends Forever. Mmmmm the tomatoes stuffed with mozzerella - to die for! I actually recently adapted it for a dinner party before me and Alex split - a beef tomato, stuffed with mozerella and a touch of basil, baked in the oven, served on a bed of raw spinach for a starter....yummy!
I also loved the sound of the spinach lasgne in one of the books. And mmmmmmm bagels, smoked salmon and cream cheese! I don't even like cream cheese on it's own, but d**n, together they're awesome!

One of my favorite breakfasts is peanut butter on toast, with banana, honey, and wheat germ on top. You have to eat it with a fork, but it is soooooo yummy! And helen, that sounds amazing!

Heehee, thanks. I love cooking.
I've never tried wheat germ. What's it like?

It's a gritty thing that can be sprinkled on stuff. Kind of a texture unto itself; I certainly can't think of anything to compare it to.

I've seen it in the supermarket...just never thought of a reason to buy it. I did buy some tahini yesterday though, to make hummus, Dawn-style.
I was very excited on Saturday. I went shopping with my friend Geoff and we discovered a sweet shop that does all the American stuff you can't get here. We bought mint double-stuf oreos, almond m&ms and hershey kisses....mmm good stuff. They had Tootsie Rolls too, which I've never had. I wish I'd bought one to try as Claud as mentioned them before, but I couldn't really work out what they were.

^You're not missing much, helsieboo. Tootsie Rolls are kind of gross, IMO. They are supposed to be chocolate, but they taste more like really chewy (and not in a good way!) artificial chocolate-flavored taffy. Bleh!
I was re-reading Claudia Kishi, Middle School Dropout yesterday and I had to look up what a fluffernutter sandwich is. I guess they are a regional thing; I've never heard of them in CA. Anway, peanut butter with marshmallow fluff on white bread doesn't sound too appetizing to me!

What's taffy? Like toffee?
That doesn't sound appealing to me either - but then I don't like peanut butter unless in oreos or marshmellow. Though they did have jars of the fluffy stuff! I love American sweets, even if I don't like them to eat, they just look awesome.

No, taffy is a chewy candy that can be made in many flavors, as opposed to the brown-sugar flavor of toffee. Search "salt water taffy" (and Shriver's, a place in NJ that makes it) to find out more. My personal favorites are mint and watermelon; chocolate salt water taffy isn't at the top of my list. I've actually had near-cravings for watermelon taffy atimes!

Omg, fluffernutters are awesome! They're big in New England.

I love American sweets, even if I don't like them to eat, they just look awesome. It's funny you should say that, because I felt the same about British sweets when I was in London! Kit Kat Chunkies...oh, my lord, were they ever good! I've seriously considered importing some.
