Mrs. Hill was an illustrator and Mr. Hill was an analyst or something like that...

I remember Mr. Johannsen being an engineer, but I don't think it was ever stated what kind he was.

Engineers typically make good money in any case, however, aerospace engineers are very well off.

Maybe Charlotte's dad was an environmental engineer or mechanical engineer as I know they work at lots of different places. Was just wondering because I assumed it wasn't nuclear since there is no mention of a power plant nearby and they usually can't do a lot of work from home (just bring home overflow from the plant ;D)

I'm surprised no one's parents worked as a bank teller, repairman, florist, etc. I know Mrs. McGill worked as a Buyer for Bellair's, but that was in the offices, not as if she was on the sales floor. I'm sure the lady who works the perfume counter needs a sitter, too. Actually, Mrs. Pike did temp work from time to time, and in #125 she had a temporary job at the mall during the holiday season. Although that barely counts, because SHE HAS EIGHT KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF TWELVE and her husband is yet another lawyer who is apparently able to provide for them well enough... she doesn't have much reason to focus on a career right now, and since this is BSC-land, I'm sure that if she decided she wanted to go to work full time, she'd find some awesome job just like that.

She was able to find satisfactory temp work within a day or two in Poor Mallory

I don't see that as terribly unrealistic. I doubt the temp job was very desirable or high paying, but I guess I really don't know.

^I've been working at at temp agency while I look for a job in my field, and even though I am skilled and able, there aren't that many positions. Of course the BSC is set during a completely different economic climate, in a state that isn't failing, but still. Temp work doesn't pay that much, nor is it as plentiful as it is portrayed. There is also the fact that Mrs Pike didn't seem to have that much experience -- where is she temping? A day care?

^There has to be plenty of temp jobs open! We don't know of any other temps that Mrs. Pike has to compete with. Unless, however, she was working in the Scranton area......

The fact that she's presumably been out of work for 11+ years is what makes me doubt the ease in which she found the job. True, it's not very desirable or high paying, but you'd need SOME up-to-date skills.

^for temp work? i think it's also mentioned that mrs. pike had some computer skills. temp work is really what you do when you can't get any other office-type job so it makes sense that mrs. pike signed up with a temp agency.

^ I remember her computer skills being mentioned, too, which is why I assume she was working in some type of office-secretarial temp job.

I can understand about the Pikes not being mentioned as rich (since there are eight kids), but almost everyone else seemed like they would be rich to me -especially Shannon's and Abby's parents. Also, the Johanssen's probably would have been rich, too -Charlotte's dad was an engineer and Charlotte's mom was a doctor (that's probably around $200,000)!
Does anyone know what Logan's parents did for a living?

Didn't Logan's dad own a sporting goods store? Something like that? Owning doesn't seem right because they're relatively new to the area, unless it was "buy this store 800 miles away from your home and see what happens!" which seems unlikely. Or am I completely fabricating this from a fanfic? (I hate it when I get canon and fanon confused, but it happens all the time)

I don't *think* Logan's dad owned a sporting goods store, but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure he worked with some kind of business, though, since he was transferred to Stoneybrook, CT. (Where else? Isn't everyone transferred to Stoneybrook?)
