^They were probably not the quality of an American Girl. But, they had different hair and eye colors so that kids could match to themselves. When the girls found them in the store then they each found one that looked just like them.
Karen’s Yo-Yo. Andrew’s yo-yo cost $2.49. Karen’s cost “much, much more.” It came with a VHS instruction tape. (YouTube killed that business, huh?) She had to borrow $2 from Watson to finish paying for it.

Karen’s KittyCat Club. This has been much discussed, but Priscilla cost $400 in the original book. It was upped to $4000 in the graphic novel. In the original, Hannie suggested charging $1 a day to cat-sit for people. Amanda said that wasn’t enough, so they went with $3 (split $1 each.) Graphic novel, Hannie said $5 a day. Still too low, they went with $30! (Split $10 each.) I was surprised because that’s some legit money for a 6-year-old. (They got no customers.)

Target and Walmart have their own AG knock-offs, I think the Target one is called Our Generation? That's what I picture them getting now but as a kid, I was picturing like all-cloth dolls!
