^ you would think, if nothing else, it would have saved a couple of stamps.

^ Was it because she wrote one daily, which means she would have sent several updates on the event as it progressed? What it reminds me of is the equivalent of Facebook now. Kind of like updating your status; once a day, Stacey would just send a daily events postcard?! After all, these girls were *serious* about their postcard sending.

Two things as I am halfway through.
I was sort of surprised that Vanessa agreed (unless her parents decided car arrangements) to travel with the triplets. It sounded like both station wagons had 2 rows of seats behind the front (driver and passenger). Remembering the nice friendship between MA and Vanessa in "Sea City, Here We Come," I was disappointed that there was no (other than the triplets' Barfmobile sign) dialog from that car, all we heard was from Stacey's car. I know it was her book, but still. Also too bad, Mal and Stacey never really talked either.
Does anyone else think it was odd that not one Pike kid questioned why Stacey never had any treat be it danish or ice cream? I totally get that they were wrapped up in being in Sea City, for once all being kids (except poor Mal) and being written as such. Maybe because for me food was always an issue growing up, it's hard to believe not one of the eight Pikes noticed.

^ Maybe they either thought she liked healthier stuff, or they just didn't care about their sitter's dietary habits? Also, Stacey wasn't a new person to them...they would have been fairly used to having her around at this point, so they wouldn't be as likely to watch everything she does closely.

^That's true. I wasn't trying to say they should be that observant or really care, just that I thought it was strange that no one even said "What kind of ice cream are you getting, Stacey?" And when she said, "Oh, I'm not having any right now," to ask why. That's all, particulary after Mary Anne did always get a sugary treat.

^ I see what you mean. I noticed that they never asked her about that either. But maybe they just assumed Stacey was a healthy eater, like starrynight mentioned, or that she was an avid dieter. I also agree that it would be a bit weird if the kids watched what Stacey ate like a hawk but I can see someone like Claire perhaps doing that.

^ i could see them paying attention on a regular day maybe, but not on vacation. there are a whole lot of exciting things going on and my sitter's eating habits wouldn't keep my attention when i have ice cream and the beach to look forward to.

^ That is very true. I still would love to go to Sea City now, as an adult so can only imagine the appeal to a young kid.

I think maybe kids just don't care enough about that stuff to ask. Honestly it's we adults that are caught in food and weight issues!

As I keep reading, I find Scott more pedophile like. Gross dude you are 18 and leading on a 13year old, talk about insecure!

I find it interesting how Stacey ordered a burger with cheese in this one. I thought she couldn't eat pizza b/c of processed cheese ( but I'm pretty sure later she joins in eating pizza). I wonder if you have diabetes if you really can't eat cheese?

That was an inconsistency since in later books, she ate pizza. In an article I skimmed, a diabetic can eat cheese but it has to be low fat cheese.

I think I could give up chocolate, but no way could I give up cheese!

^In this very book she told Mr. Pike she couldn't eat a cheese omelet because of the processed cheese. Maybe the Swiss cheese on the Crazy Burger was made with natural dairy products that hadn't been processed and/or organic/soy based.
I just finished reading this and had forgotten that Stacey told Scott flat out she was 13. I don't think he necessarily meant any harm but he completely was feeding into her crush on him.

As I keep reading, I find Scott more pedophile like. Gross dude you are 18 and leading on a 13year old, talk about insecure! scott is the definition of insecure. he's 18 and thinks he's an adult, so his head is inflated and he wants people to respect him. but actual adults know he's just a jackass, so instead he puffs his feathers out around dumb 13 year olds. impressionable teen girls are the most forgiving audience.
